Re: Archer as Captain

What, exactly, could Archer have done to stop the Xindi without a warp drive? Just curious. Nobody is saying that he didn't have to take action, and nobody is saying that it was possible to do things differently. The point of the matter is that just because he had to do it , does not make it right ...

Re: Archer as Captain

How to put this...soldiers who see combat, it screws most of them up, sure, especially if they're personally responsible for killing or harming someone in the name of that war... Wait ... I'm screwed up? Oh, wait. Yeah, I probably am. but, it's like in order to cope and not go completely cr...

Re: Archer as Captain

So...Archer can't believe that he did the right thing? That doing what he had to do to save the Earth from the Xindi was the right thing to do? You sorta lost me with your SG comparison. I only watched SG1 casually because it was alright but didn't hurt my feelings if I missed an episode...and SGA l...

Re: Archer as Captain

And another thing too--you really can't tell another person how to cope or how to grieve. Granted, for the sake of a TV show and keeping it relatable to an audience, it should be portrayed as pretty consistent with most people who've had a similar experience. And in Archer's case, I think I can say ...

Re: Generational Designations/Names

As a pre-Reagonomics baby, Brandyjane is comfortably within the Gen X span, albeit toward the end.

Re: Archer as Captain

I think it's a bit of a stretch to say Archer's lacking a moral compass. His priority, his mission, was to save Earth. How to put this...soldiers who see combat, it screws most of them up, sure, especially if they're personally responsible for killing or harming someone in the name of that war...but...

Re: Generational Designations/Names

Honeybee, I think that's exactly it. Generations are fluid... like language. They are always changing. But after a certain amount of time has passed, people can see the larger picture from the small changes. Old English didn't become Modern English and Gen X didn't become Gen Y overnight, they were...

The Silent Generation actually precedes the Baby Boomers: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Silent_Generation We talked about that in my class last semester, too.

Re: Favourite Bad Guys

Future Guy would totally have to be Romulan! And that would rock. The Temporal Cold War did have some potential. It could be reintroduced and be really cool if they didn't lame it up.

That's just awesome! 8) I love the Ojibwe name, too. I always wondered what it meant. Thanks for explaining that!

Not giving up my own first name, on account'a it's just uncommon enough to get me into trouble!
