Re: Who's doing what and when on Enterprise?

On a U.S. Navy ship you have *one* shift. It's called the 'work day'. It's 8 hours, just like a civilian job. You report to your place of work after breakfast (engineering, deck division, operations, etc...), usually have a quick formation for accountability and to hear the plan of the day, then you...

Re: Canon on the Rommie War

Ouch! Easy with that stick. Umm, next chapter... Yes, well, umm, you see it's umm, it's umm... Ah, hell. It's that darned thing called 'reel life' If you want to help, I suggest a letter writing campaign to my employer, demanding that time be set aside each day for me to write 'Enterprise' fan fic. ...

Re: Canon on the Rommie War

I did the same analysis as weeble prior to starting my last fic, and I came to the same conclusions. Here are the author notes I wrote regarding the topic: Note 4: It is firmly established in canon (going all the way back to Trek Original Series) that Humans were unaware of Romulan physical appearan...

Re: Randomness

Give a human being power and it will eventually be abused.

I wonder if that truism applies even more universally? As in: Give a sentient being power and it will eventually be abused.

Re: Eyebrows

Eyebrows? At last, a serious topic, worthy of merit and not the usual trivial fluff. Since I was taught in engineering school that if you can't quantify a problem then you really don't understand it, I have endeavored to perform a statistical analysis of my own eyebrow usage in my two latest works (...

Re: Randomness

Linda,
My daughter did the exact same thing Dylan is doing. (She did Basic at Ft Sill and AIT at Ft Gordon, then went into the Reserves while going to school.) She is the same person now as before she left, except maybe a little more confident and self-reliant.

Dylan will be fine.

Re: Kotik's Classics

Hey, that's ME! How cool is that? Kotik sez: "This time we'll look at a work (hopefully still) in progress" Fear not, I have not given up on this. In fact, things are just now settling down to where I can start carving out time to actually write. I don't miss much about Afghanistan, but I ...

Re: Another reason the Abomination was trash

Did BnB deliberately give the finger to Enterprise fans? I don't know, but a strong case can be made for believing that (the "it was so bad it had to be deliberate" argument). And yes, it WAS that bad. On the other hand, there is an equally strong argument to support the other camp (the &q...

I think Transwarp is missing too. I Haven't heard from him in a while and--strangely--I miss his pedestrian posts and predictable opinions. I sure hope he's alright!

Hmmm.... good question. I think TOS Era miniskirts on even days, mirror universe bare midriffs on odd days. Yes, that should do it.

Re: The never-ending dilemma of reviews...

I used BnB's clan concept and Transwarp's clan name of T'Pol's, but I also gave credit to these people in the disclaimers Kotik, to set the record straight, that clan name in 'Command' is actually BnB's, from his 'Road Once Traveled' series. I borrowed from his stories for the same reason you did; ...

Re: Where did those pesky fraternization rules come from?

How is it Apples and Oranges... Apples = 'No-frat' regs prohibit sexual relationships in a unit or on the ship. [fanfic world] Oranges = Regs prohibit relationships (sexual OR non-sexual) that are or appear to be abusive, coercive, exploitive, impartial, or unfair. [real world] The two are not the ...

Re: Where did those pesky fraternization rules come from?

Since this has turned into a history lesson I was thinking about this the other day...Did you know that nearly every military power in the ancient world, encouraged sexual relationships within their ranks? It's true, the Egyptians, the Greeks, and the Romans, all encouraged it. The idea being that ...
