Great BnB! Nice work. I absolutely love hand made objects like that. I used to go to the Bay Area Knife Collectors show now and again. Is is wonderful to see some of the works those artisans create. Over the years I managed to acquire a couple.

Re: For the Bullet Layman
Interesting that a kilowatt strobe will give one a sunburn at close range while a 1 kW laser will do nasty things at quite some distance. Amazing what coherance can do.

Re: For the Bullet Layman
Here is a page with good comparison photos for you.
http://www.rogueturtle.com/articles/ammo.php
Note, I didn't include Naval rifles.
I was referring to the max range as that where the bullet would still hurt someone. We're all friends so it's all good.

Re: For the Bullet Layman
Gad, sorry for the typos. Had just taken my meds and was fuzzier than usual. Unfortunately it won't let me edit the text. Hope you can figure it out. If not just ask. Note that maximum dangerous ranges may be even greater than BnB indicates. If a high velocity .22 LR is fired upward at a 45 degree a...

Re: For the Bullet Layman
What is shown above are cartridges. Each is assumably an assemblage of a case, gunpowder, a primer and a bullet. This assembly is often called a round or a bullet. The case is usually, but not always a hollow piece of machined brass that is made to fit a set of specific dimensions that define a cham...

Re: Rigil's Endeavour website
Can't speak for writers as I don't know any making their living at it. One does what they need to do. I think Rigil taking a respite from an area he has lost interest in makes sense. Hopefully he is putting full effort into his school work. Many tend to see college as a lark or a continuation of hig...

We have lots of people going through the trash all the time at the condo complex. Most want the bottles and cans for recycling. Others, well who knows. I saw one guy come out of the trash can corral next door with several pieces of lumber that someone left there. Haven't seen anyone digging for food...

My sister didn't like firearms either. As each of my nieces matured and reached age 21 they approached me to teach them about "guns". I did and stressed safety, explained how each worked. Took several apart and explained what each piece did. Explained the contents of nullets and shotgun sh...

Re: I'm Tired - Which way do I go?
Edited... I am not giving up writing. It is a hobby now, since I retired. I may or may not try to publish something original. If I do,. the absolute last thing I want to do is turn it into work. This is one of the few sources of recreation that I am still physically capable of doing. This is my down...

Re: I'm Tired - Which way do I go?
It depends on who you are and what you really want to do. Are you tired of writing or tired or writing this story? Is it just frustration of writers block or something else capture your interest? You could talk to another writer that might have an interest to offer input or ideas. Possibly give them...

Think if the display as something that you could peel and stick to any surface to create a large area or small area display. Now add to that a pixel density something on the order of Kodachrome 25. Add the sensor having the capibility to cover spectrum beyond visual +UV and IR add wide angle and tel...

Still no joy. I do recall the object was low warp capible, like warp 1. It was a recording device that observed civilizations. After they got it to respond it gave them a view of Earth's pre history.

Re: windows on Enterprise
Just a wierd thought. Considering the issues with real windows on a space ship what if those "windows" are actually a thin applique (sp?) on the internal wall connected to a micro "camera"/sensor on the outer hull. The occupants would have the same experience without punchong hol...

Re: Misanthropic's new story - Reflecting To You
I quit following this fic quite a while ago when I figured this would be the path taken. I frankly admit to having little appreciation for this approach, but then that may be put down to the basic fact that I am an intolerant impatient male. I do not suffer fools lightly in real life and this paints...
