Re: Something Typical

I find it amusing that in movies (and presumably in real life) that overseas all these service vehicles like taxis and dump trucks are Mercedes and BMW's  Elessar, that is interesting. The ones I've been in have been really plain compared to the ones you se in private ownership. For a while th...

[quote="Asso"]I had to do a short business trip. I had to to to Maranello. I think many of you know Maranello, it is Ferrari's home and, obviously, I took advantage of the circumstance to visit the Ferrari Gallery. So, for those who can appreciate it, here are some images. The tremendous n...

Re: Question about the military and mental illness

To repost and add to what I commented on chapter 9... It depends on severity, which I know is a weasel answer. If there is a formal record of the problem, something WILL be done. If it is a relatively minor condition, the individual will be moved to a desk job and given outpatient treatment. In more...

Re: Randomness

I love Japanese horror movies. There is a modern Japanese Godzilla movie on right now. It's called Godzilla: Final Wars. Right now an IJN (Sorry, it's JMSDF) Aegis destroyer is going at it with Godzilla. They just fired four Harpoon missiles at him. What I really liked was all four missiles popped u...

Re: On Laundry

Quartermaster's duties in the Navy have not changed for a very long time. I would recommend that for a good overview, go look up quartermaster on Wikipedia. To answer the other question, why did they use the term quartermaster to designate a supply function, I can only answer that the writers' conce...

Re: On Laundry

Well I would guess that they have laundry staff of enlisted personel kind of like the stewerds who serve dinner only for house keeping. A Quatermaster is the person responible for all the creature comforts, uniforms, and other clothing on bases or ships. Ciggerates (BAD), booze, (which technically ...

Re: If T'Pol Had Declared the Kalifee?

Sorry I watched Bones and it rubs off. I love social anthropology. And Temperance Brennen is more Vulcan than T'Pol in a lot of ways.

That is the truth. I just started watching Bones and I keep looking for ears.

Re: The Upsetting News Thread

BnB's mother-in-law passed away. They were very close from what he said on his blog. In fact, the whole family seems to be pretty tight-knit.

...And someone had to have entered Pon Farr far away from home and resolved it with whomever was available... Heck, if they showed up during Mardi Gras no one would even notice them. They could just pass themselves off as Info Systems people "from up north". As long as they recognized the...

Re: Introducing: Eleanor, Tania, Olive, and Jane

I think it will be the AR-15/ M4. Say what you want about modern manufacturing practices, but the AR-15 platform is remarkably accurate. One of the major reasons is there is no wood to expand or contract or warp. They do quite well at Camp Perry. No Springfield has won there since before I was born....

Re: Introducing: Eleanor, Tania, Olive, and Jane

My,my you have been busy. Did you get these locally or did you go to Tulsa? First of all - Jane. You need to look on the muzzle crown or right around the muzzle for a small star. If it has one, that is the sign of a star gauged barrel. Those were exceptionally accurate and were used in the Springfie...

Trying to get frickin' Turbo Tax to stop insisting I need to put figures in a vehicle expense worksheet I don't need this year, especially since it simply refuses to accept "0". On their web site they claim they've fixed this problem with their latest update. They haven't. Ha ha ha!! Alre...
