Re: The Whine thread.
I just wrote up a loooooong whine that got deleted before I could post. But the reader's digest version? Our neighbor's house caught on fire today, if my mom hadn't looked out the window when she did there would be nothing there and it would have caught to a few more of our houses (we live in a prot...

Watching: What Not To Wear-- this one woman that they have on today stepped into the 360 degree mirror with this uhm.... hideous... very early nineties blue and white long jacket/sheath dress outfit. Stacey then proceed to tell her that she looks like a flight attendant from Vulcan airlines (just th...

Re: The Whine thread.
This is the way it really works. Benefits are not so easy to obtain as a lot of people think they are. Sad, but true. I used to help out at a soup kitchen while I was in college (in a notoriously, uhm, not-so-good city), and the stories that I heard just broke my heart. When I first started I used ...

Re: You Know You're a Trekkie When...
It's kind of a shame when you have to pull out the near-porn to interest the unwashed masses, though. Whatever happened to THINKING while you watch TV? :? Sad, but it has that instant shock effect that today's reality tv-addled brains can comprehend. (I happily converted my sister over, however, wi...

Re: You Know You're a Trekkie When...
Yes, I like the odd looks I get from the Pakleds sometimes. Favorite thing I hear all the time, "You don't look like a Trekkie." What are we supposed to look like? Deformed? Klingon ridges tatooed to our foreheads? Seriously  I was being teased about the convention at happy hour afte...

Re: The Whine thread.
Huh?? :? :? What the frell do they care where you live for?? :? :? :? :? :? Well, where you live and what type of line (copper or fiber) goes to your home/area affects the availability of DSL. I live on the edge of a state forest in the middle of nowhere (there are paintball ranges near my apt. and...

The Smell of Dead Roses: I thought it was a very pretty story and I was so drawn in that I didn't even notice the time passing (And considering that I was reading this on the elliptical at the gym working at my optimal to max heart rate, that was a real accomplishment). Maybe I was able to enjoy it ...

This is the song that just reminded me of your stories: Hero and Leander Adam Guettel "Could I be Leander? On a wave am I borne? Borne to a new home across this lonely sea? Could you be my Hero, heart afire? My lighthouse on the shoreline- Could you be that to me? Oh, I need you- I need the ris...

Re: personality test
Sounds like the workplace from hell, Emberchyld, unless you can really thrive on all that high intensity, LOL. I need massive doses of solitude. A workplace like yours would send me screeming home to Vulcan, I think. But more power to those who can take the intensity! Our marketing people don't see...

Asso, I enjoy your stories!
It's funny, because I had a dance class the other night and the teacher choreographed/taught a contemporary dance to the song "Hero and Leander"... and all I could think about when I heard the song was your first story!

Re: personality test
I don't know how employers use these tests accept maybe to put extroverts in public places and the introverts in the back rooms, LOL. My company, for some reason still unknown to us all, uses a personality test (even before you can interview, you have to pass the test) to hire essentially all drive...

(now I have no excuse if my boss wants me to work from home... eesh.) Sure you do. It's called "It's my personal time dumbass. I am an employee, not a serf." Besides, why tell them about it? What business is it of your employers what speed you use to access the internet at your own home? ...

I just wanted everyone to know that I've just joined the 21st century and... *gasp* ordered broadband.
I don't know whether to be estatic or mournful (now I have no excuse if my boss wants me to work from home... eesh.)
