Oh yeah...that was a little embarrassing. He sang "Lost in the Stars" very nicely, though.
It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

In the late 1950's or eary 1960's (very pre trek) my sister and I got our two younger brothers to play 'spaceman' with us. We dressed them in our girlie powder blue tights and their own toy jet pilot? helmets. We armed them with their own toy guns. Back then everyone played with guns. Even as a girl I had my own cap pistol. I loved the smell of those caps after you set them off. I had a little brownie camara with black and white film. I think I still have the photographic evidence of our 'spaceman' play stored in a box somewhere. I'm saving this evidence for the best time to take those photos out and embarrass my brothers. Again.

Happy first of May.
I don't know if you celebrate it elsewhere, but here it's a big spring party.
Two pictures of a park where everyone goes to eat brunch.

And a picture of me and my darling taken today. I'm the one wearing blue sweater.

They look like the "student hats" we have in Sweden. When you graduate from our equivalent of high school (called "gymnasium") you get those hats, which you then can use afterwards, especially during academic functions at university.
Since we share many traditions with Finland (a country that was once a part of Sweden) I assume it's the same with the student hats. The tassle however is something added later if you're a student at a technical college.
She's got an awfully nice bum!

Wow! Beautiful!
Where in California is this? Is it usually warm enouph to go in the water?
Some of the scenery reminds me of scenes from the show Six Feet Under.
Oh, and Bookworm. What a handsome sweetie you have.
Whoops, I mean "darling." Did you graduate today?

Sure you can go in the water, for about 15 minutes before you turn blue.
The kite and wind surfers all have wetsuits. The Alaskan current that makes these waters quite rich also make them cold. Click the image, then again to see it full size. The ice plant has been in bloom. The light house is Pigeon Point.
This is the North-central California Coast between SF and Monterey. I take a pocket digital camera along when I get to go for a ride.

Yes, the hats are almost same as in sweden. You get those after passing the matriculation exams. There used to be less people to do those exams and people who passed were accepted to university without any other exams. In the old days the university students might have had the hats on all summer it was a certain status symbol so there are still strong traditions with those that are or have been in university to wear the hats few days per year.

We have graduated several years ago. It's first of May thing. It's traditional to wear the hats during first of May celebrations.

Those are really nice photos. My family celebrates the first of May as Beltane. And this week our cherry tree bust into bloom. The trees are just starting to get their leaves. One of the rose bushes I planted last year has started to grow new leaves, but I am not sure the other rose bushes made it through the winter. We will just have to wait and see. All the spring birds are back now. And I see several rabbits. This year, I have not seen the skunk yet. Oh, the squirrels are always around. Last year, they ate through the plastic mesh screen on the kitchen windows and helped themselves to a loaf of bread on the kitchen table. We have been thinking of replacing those screens with metal mesh. I guess it is about time to do that since it is getting warmer now, LOL.

This is my cat. He's evil.
This is Maxine. She's old but a loyal and faithful friend.
This is Maxine at about 6 weeks old, back in '93.

That cat doesn't look evil, CX. He looks regal.
