You might also want to have the kitty's kidney function checked. He could have kidney failure, diabetes or a hyperthyroid. Hopefully it is some kind of marking behavior and he's just too old to spray. It's kind of tough when they get that age. Good luck with him.

Actually that's not so off-the-wall. I had a friend talk to a behaviorist about her cat urinating on laundry--dirty, clean, or otherwise--and the behaviorist said that sometimes it's because they like you, and sometimes some cats have "texture issues" and prefer softer surfaces than cat litter to use (in cases that aren't spraying for the latter, that is).

Yeah, I know what you mean, my Uncle's dog was the same Sheepdogs are quite hiperactive too!

He's doing a lot better

Actually, he is learning to go in the tub or the shower. Gross, I know, but better than on the carpet. He has stopped going in my room or on my bed or on my laundry, though.

He gets this special urinary tract stuff we got from the vet. V. expensive, my mom's always complaining about it . The other night I'm sitting in the hall bathroom, ya know, doin my thing. Like 4 am. Cat walks in... starts circling on the rug, I'm like, noooo kitty, I pick him up and put him in the tub, he circles, stops...squats... circles some more, stops again... squats... and starts peeing. Looking up at me. Peeing.

Sounds to me like maybe he's letting you know it hurts. Either that or he's just doing it petulantly. You never know with cats.

That's what I was concerned about when I responded to this subject initially. When Mr. Boo did that, his urinary tract was crystallized. When Elvis did it, he had a bladder infection.

Cats don't usually do that stuff because they're mad at you or to get even. Also, if he was spraying territorially, he wouldn't have gone in the tub, because that wasn't what interested him. This sounds more like a case of inappropriate out-of-box elimination.
