Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Re: Avatars
Last night I discovered opacity control, of which I am now very enamored.
Feel free to use them, but credit is appreciated.

Re: Avatars
Cool. I think the T'Pol one is particularly striking.
What are the background images in the Trip and Malcolm avatars?
I've been playing around in GIMP myself. Took me about an hour just to figure out how to save something as a jpeg. (Let's just say that working in layers still boggles my mind.) I'm so glad I had a taste of Photoshop training in my past life or I'd have given up by now. I still have to switch to Paintshop for type because that's utterly defeating me in GIMP.

Re: Avatars
I used storm images for the Trip and Malcolm backgrounds. When I searched for images I found this really cool rounded image, which I used for my Trip avatar.
Haven't tried GIMP; I'm using a old version of Photoshop that came with the laptop I got in '03. That laptop died, but I still use the Photoshop software. Is GIMP not user-friendly?

Re: Avatars
Actually I think it's very similar to Photoshop (only it's FREE!!). I found Photoshop very challenging too. The more bells and whistles there are, the more complicated it gets, and you just have to get used to certain mindsets in using tools and layers and such, which I don't find user-friendly because I'm just not used to thinking that way. I have the same clumsiness with Illustrator or Quark XPress and undoubtedly would with Adobe InDesign as well.
Once you figure them out, though, they give you amazing capabilities.
I just don't know that I'll ever really figure them out...

Re: Avatars
Alelou, this image is really good and evocative, and I agree with you about Jadzia Kathryn's job: great, above all that one of T'Pol.

Re: Avatars
Maybe I'll try GIMP sometime, but as we've seen I'm still working on learning the old Photoshop.
Nice use of black and white in that one, Alelou - with the various pictures the monochromatic scheme unifies them.

Re: Avatars
Well, one of the photos was black and white so I didn't have much choice. But I'm pretty proud that I managed to desaturate the color ones and increase the contrast on them to try to get them to match the other one. A keen eye will notice that the lighting angles are completely out of whack, however.
