I wasn't a screamer. More of a puker. Also a brooder. I remember sitting there thinking bitterly thinking about the ideas we'd heard in Lamaze, like putting some pretty poster on the wall where you can concentrate on it or playing soothing music, and what a joke they were. (Maybe for someone who was in there for 36 hours they could keep you from going insane from sheer boredom, though, I don't know.)

Maybe Lamaze should find a way to work screaming into the breathing lessons. That would probably be more effective than those little puffs. Sort of like Monica Seles playing tennis: Arghhhhh!! Arghhhhh!!! Arghhhhh!!!

I said to my husband "Finally I have a good excuse to scream. I am going to scream." I hardly screamed in my life. And in labour I didn't scream either. During the first one I fell asleep. My husband still is teasing that he did all the hard work, like holding my hand and standing near my bed, while I slept.
Isn't funny that women with childern are telling labour stories like a warrior tells about his victories. You know, like "10 hours?? Ha, that's nothing. The second child took me 24 hours blablabla."

That is so true, and it is funny. But I also couldn't believe how many women told my stepdaughter real HORROR STORIES when she was pregnant with her first kid. I mean, hello? Could you maybe lay off a little until she's a veteran too??

Of course I'm probably just as guilty as anyone else.

Would do you mean? They weren't there? I think the best part about me being in labour that my husband was there to support me and to share the moments with each other. I would have made a scene if he wasn't allowed to be present.
