Hard of hearing?

Postby Silverbullet » Sat Mar 17, 2012 1:52 am

Hard of Hearing? Trouble hearing people on the phone?

I just got a free Captioning phone. It prints out, on a screen what is being said over the phone. so if you cannot hear it you can read it.

got the phone, instlattaion free and NO monthly charges. Damn thing is totaly free.

How is that?

When I can find what the installer left behind, wherever my wife hid it, I will give you where you can get one too. If you need one.

Lots of time speople speak so lowly and softly that I cannot hear them (I wear two earing aids) so this phone is a god send.

They advertise those in New York, too. I assume it's covered under Medicare or Disabilities Services.

I had a brief look at something like that a few months ago. As far as I understood it, the voice recognition was done centrally in a processing center that then sent the voice and text to your home. This meant the user's equipment was cheap but the running costs were very high. This one was funded by an aid program, and perhaps yours is the same. The cynic in me wondered how long the service would remain 'free'.

Oddly, the FCC is paying for it. On my phone bill I pay a very smalll tax to the fCC. Itis that which the FCC uses.

Anyway, not covered by medicare.

It will stay free always as far as I know.
