I signed and wanted to whine. I had an abdominal hysterectomy last week for a ridiculously large fibroid. I can’t believe how awful I feel. This is a new level of weakness for me. I'm not so much bothered by the pain of surgery...all of the associated symptoms and not feeling well at all are much more difficult to cope with. I hope I feel better soon because this sucks.

How is everyone? I hope all is well.

I have no idea what that's like, but it sounds pretty horrible. :patpat:

I agree about not knowing what that was like, but I have had several hernia surgeries and the next to the last one (back in the early 80's) was a real pain so I can empathize to some degree.

Wow, that sounds very painful! Hope you have a quick recovery.

I'm in the process of relocating back to the US and get to spend Thanksgiving in Japan packing. It will be nice to have the whole family together again but have to get through the process.

Thank you all. I am accepting comfort at this time. I made it through the first week. Hopefully things get better day by day.

This will be the first Thanksgiving in a very long time that I haven't worked. I hope everyone has a good holiday season.

So I'm back in the hospital on IV antibiotics. Apparently I have an abcess in my abdomen and an infection. In a few hours they will be draining the fluid. At least now I know why I have felt so poorly. Thankfully, the antibiotics seem to be helping, though. I feel better this AM.

Sorry to hear that you had a post operative infection, those are not fun. Best wishes for a speedy recovery.

OUCH, my darling wife had severe endometriosis requiring surgery,...and then complications. Long recovery. Hopefully you will get healthy soon. I'll be praying for you.

Hope you're feeling much better. I had a hysterectomy several years ago. It went well, but it was still a lot to go through. An abscess would be sure to make it a lot harder. You'll be in my thoughts and prayers.

Thank you everyone. I'm back home now...down 15 lbs and still very weak, but feeling better, thankfully. Antibiotics for another week... At some point when I felt so awful, I considered that I could die. Very frightening! It does make you greatly appreciative of life and family, loved ones, and friends for sure. Once I am strong enough, I think I'll go outside and hug some trees.

Hi. I hope your recovery is continuing and you get to hug that tree.

I think I need to stop going to Florida for Thanksgiving. Last year I broke my ankle right before we were supposed to leave.

This year my significant other and I drove down . We had a nice Thanksgiving with my brother and sister-in-law. We were planning to head home today, but yesterday morning my SO started having chest pain. We took him to the ER. He had a cardiac cath and got a stent. The cardiologist was very pleased with the results and thinks he'll do fine.

He feels a lot better this morning. Hopefully he'll leave the hospital later today and we'll start back on Monday. Things could have been much worse, but this may be the beginning of a lot of changes. He should get started in cardiac rehab in a couple of weeks. We'll see what that brings.

Yikes, Capn Frances. I hadn't seen that before.

Wish all of you who still check in here a very merry Christmas!

Thanks, Alelou. It's been an interesting holiday season for us. Wes was back in the hospital last week for chest pain, but he ruled out for a heart attack and seems to be doing well. This has been a difficult year. I'm hoping 2016 will be better.

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!
