Found my 'overly manly man friend Karim weeping today. He showed me this.

Syrian singer in the middle east version of "X-Factor" called "Arab Idol":

My arabian is somewhat substandard, but I have a few friends from Lebanon, so this is what I could make out ( or at least believe to)

Oh, Aleppo, Spring of Pain.

The bloodshed, In my country. I weep with broken heart, like my home. The children, who turn to dust. In my country.

Holy f***ing shit, that must be some serious song. I didn't get more of it, but if people's reaction is anything to go by, it must be a humdinger.

Song

You guys are so fond of praying - Please pray for the freedom-wanting people of Syria. They loose a way more than 3 people a day to the senseless brutality of a blood thursty dictator each day.

Yes, the plot was morbid, the technobabble was borderline ("converting a water extractor to extract proteins from organic matter".... Huh? How could machinery designed to distill water be modified to put out intact proteins? Makes no sense at all but I guess it's marginally less nauseating than brother-en-brochette), the captain was sorta Mary-Sueish, the Vulcan sounded. like. this., all the women either had the same plastic surgeon or suffered from an extreme form of gigantomastia, and everybody was crosseyed, but it was Trek and it was new. That alone made it priceless.

I see there is a second story in development now. While the quality isn't up to modern big budget CGI standards, it's remarkably good for an amateur production. I'm looking forward to the day this sort of thing is readily available and we can see fanfic films as well as fanfic stories.

As far as I can see, so far very few people have mastered the art of figures interacting directly with objects or with each other - which is a shame, because that would be an essential part of the sort of TnT fanfic stories I'd want to watch. :)

Congrats on your new king, Panyasan. We, of course, being so Anglo-centered, only had coverage of the fact that Queen Elizabeth seems to be phasing her son in at last.

I find it weird that BBC World News has an American (or Canadian?) anchor, while BBC America News has an English Anchor.

It's always been a peculiar song, but the sheer awesomeness of a music video filmed in zero-G trumps everything. Plus, I just love this guy.
