IMO you should've went with a colored background as with the other sections of the website.

Now that the background is working, I'm afraid I have to agree. The "sunrise over Earth" image is gorgeous, but the white burst of light peeking over the curve of the planet obscures the text in that area. I find myself needing to scroll past it in order to read the story, which is distracting.

At the risk of being really annoying because I've already noted this a couple of times, I agree. It is visually striking and quite lovely, but it's just not easy to read. Plain backgrounds are much less distracting. Also, dark type on a light background is much easier on eyes than the reverse.

Since it's "The Bridge", maybe you could color-match with the consoles for the background to see how well the text would read against it.

How does the text color/background work for everyone now? mm dimmed the planet rim so it doesn't clash so bad. Is it better?

Looks good to me, but then I was fine with it the other way, too.
