Story posting bug

Postby justTripn » Sun Oct 23, 2011 2:30 pm

Hi,

When I go to post a story, right after I paste in the story, everything freezes. I can't change anything in the story or even get a cursor to show up in the story or even move the bar that lets me see the whole story. If I push "submit" then the story shows up on the front page with just a title and chapter numbers, but no story.

Maybe you should get someone else who posts to try posting the story... just to see whether the glitch is in your PC or in the site's software.

That suggests an error on your computer. The website doesn't do anything until you actually click the submit button, so if it is freezing when you are pasting the story in then it is likely that some error is occurring in the clipboard.

It's like having to fill out a form. You can do anything you want with it but nothing will happen until you stick it in the post and send it to the recipient.

That sounds right. I did get a message about my clipboard. I will attempt this from a different computer right after work.

If you're using a Windows PC and pasting large amounts of text into a form in a web browser, you might find it works better to paste it into Notepad first and then copy/paste from there into the web page. That will reduce it to plain text which will avoid a lot of the complexities of format conversion between the browser and your word processor.
