Mod report questions

Postby TSara » Sat Jun 16, 2007 10:28 pm

Just a couple of quick questions than I'll be on my merry way.

For mod reports. (And I only ask because I mod on another forum and we do this there)

Double posts.....do you want us to report them or try to ignore them?

Personally.....I think deleting them is helpful....I get weirded out when I read a post than see a duplicate underneath it. ( I know I'm strange....it's just one of my things...probably because I mod on another forum.)

So what's the verdict?

Also....if you want us to do this could we get a tab for it under the reason why we are modding it?

Just wondering!

Before the Big Board Crash of '07 we had enabled a funtion to delete posts. Alas, that funtion got lost too...

It's flavored with passionfruit
an appropriate ingredient, don't you think?

Should. Usually it's just a setting in the permissions of the membergroups, one box of many to check or uncheck.

The only problem with deleting the duplicate replies is that if someone else replies to it, then it can't be deleted (unless you delete all subsequent replies, one at a time, to eliminate the duplicates). So it has to be the last post in the thread.

I'm not particularly worried about the duplicate posts myself, though if it gets a bit ridiculous (like 4 in a row), then sure, though I'd point out that all it does is tag the particular post with a note saying 'read the report on this post'--it doesn't send us an email or PM, so unless I happen to look at that particular post, I wouldn't know that you had reported it in the first place.

Besides, right now we're more concerned about the server issues than duplicate posts.

The easiest way to avoid the whole duplicate post situation entirely, however, is to NOT keep pressing the "submit" button just because the server is slow. That's how you end up with duplicate posts.
Was this the army that invaded your country, ma'am? No, officer, they were taller than that...

How about this one? I'm not sure--get them to march up and down a bit...

Well, actually, phpBB3's adminCP is signficantly different to phpBB2's, we are still finding out what some of the stuff does.

Eventually.
