Weird Highlighting in Comments Text

A couple of times recently, I've posted comments on stories that have shown up white and not the background color of the pages.

I use Safari as a browser and am on a Mac, natch.

Just figured you would want to know.

I can see it, too, and I use FireFox.

If I were betting, I'm doing something as I write these comments in Safari that's causing the background to go white, but I don't know what it is.

I honestly can't see why that happens.

I use Safari on a Mac too, and don't have that issue.

Are you pasting from Word or something?

No. And it doesn't happen all the time. I'm not pasting from word, either. I just did another comment and it didn't happen.

But I do have a magic mouse with which I sometimes highlight text by accident. But I don't recall the text looking highlighted when I submitted the comment.

I saw it in two comments Honeybee made, presumably last night. And if these comments were posted relatively close together time-wise, is it possible there's some kind of glitch in our system that, for whatever reason, didn't pick up the background color and then later resolved itself? Like, if someone else happened to be leaving comments in that particular time frame, theirs would've done the same thing and it's just a coincidence that we only notice it with Honeybee's?

One of the things my magic mouse does is pick up text from other parts of the page and move it. I think that happened at least once - that it pulled text from previous comments and dropped it in the box - and then I deleted those comments. Does that count as cutting and pasting?

I don't remember it happening both times.

Magic mice are new mac things - they are very fast and have a touch pad-like system rather than buttons.

So far nothing we've discussed in this thread would lead to what we are seeing. Somehow a piece of html code is being added to the beginning and end of the comment. That shouldn't happen at all.

Where the posts made in the same hour or day?

There haven't been any changes to the fan fic side of the site in months. Nothing dark_rain does on the board code would affect it.

They were added at different times. One last night, and one this morning.

And this happened just once before - and for the life of me, I don't remember when. A couple of weeks ago.
