One of our own is a published author

This is a very important announcement.

One of our most popular and prolific TriS authors now has an e-book published on Amazon. Since I have not gotten permission to associate this author's real name with their screen name, I will leave it to the author to do that if they should choose to do so. In the mean time, if you have a Kindle or Kindle compatible e-book software, run - don't walk- to the Amazon Kindle store and buy "The Awful Mess: A Love Story" by Sandra Hutchinson. It's a romance, guys! If you don't love romance you're in the wrong place! :D

LOL. Thank you, Distracted. It's Sandra Hutchison at Amazon, and published author sounds a bit grand given the reality. (If you'll look closely you'll notice I'm published by Sheer Hubris Press ... which was started by Sandra Hutchison. You can learn more at http://sheerhubris.com).

But hey, it's good reading if I do say so myself, which is exactly what I'm doing ...though JustTripn thought the first chapter was dull (read her review -- it's Ann). And yes, it's romance, but it's not ROMANCE. And just as in fanfic, I'm offering the adult version and the PG-13 version. (So far adult is winning hands down.)

It will be out in the other formats during the month, but I'm not planning to do a paper version at this point.

And yes, I'm still working on "North Star." But I will confess to being a little, um, distracted.

Tech guys, if notice anything a mess about my web site, feel free to let me know. It's often a mystery to me.

For updates, you can follow @sheerhubris or subscribe to the blog at the website.

Sheer Hubris Publishing. I like it. Want another client, Ms. Publisher Lady? If Baen turns me down I can have a manuscript ready by the first of the year. 8)

If it's scifi I'm not sure that's a good genre mix, but I can help you get set up under your own imprint. It's really not hard to get self-published. What's hard is selling what you publish. Even if you're traditionally published, you should be taking a lot of the same steps, so PM me and we can talk about it offline.

Great news, good luck! Hopefully one of those other formats will be epub...? If so, let me know when - I'd love to check it out.

I forwarded on the info to an email group I'm a part of - a number of the members read what seems like a dozen books a week (most of them have full-time jobs and young children, I'm not sure if they sleep), and they're always on the prowl for more since they apparently read them faster than they can find new ones. A lot of what they read are romances (some paranormal/supernatural, but a lot of general fiction as well), so this is right up their alley. I'm sure at least some will be interested...especially after I talked up your writing prowess ;-)

Oh, bless you.

The PG version is up on Smashwords as of yesterday, so yes to epub, but it's still winding its way through the approval for the premium catalog and that can take awhile. I'm waiting to put the adult version up until I see that the file is okay (which also gives me more time to try to figure out just how strictly Smashwords defines adult).

If any of those friends are big reviewers, I'd be happy to send free epub files in exchange for getting reviewed.

In the meantime, the first five chapters are available free online at http://sheerhubris.com/five-free-chapters/.

This isn't a bodice ripper or a romance in the sense of the romance genre. A friend who left a review at Amazon said it reminds her of LaVryle Spencer, but I'm not positive what that means because I haven't read any of hers yet (ordered one so I can find out!).

No prob! A few sounded interested, and I think one of them said she was going to email you about the review option. I'm going to see if I can delve into the first few chapters you have up on the site this weekend.

If that was Catie, she already emailed. Yay. Thank you!

Sure was! At least one other person was interested as well, I'll make sure she contacts you.

I may have to take you up on that myself. I'll be spending at least part of next week monitoring construction yet again, and you may recall what happened the last time I did that...I think that was the week of "The Missing Scenes: Season 3" :D

I'd be happy to oblige, Jamieson. Just hope I can give you a file in the format you need.

Thank you!

You can read the first five chapters for free here: http://sheerhubris.com/five-free-chapters/

It's on Amazon everywhere, I believe.
