Regarding my new story

Postby Buurman » Fri Jan 09, 2009 10:29 pm

Hey there guys,

I'm busy writing a new series and wondered about something. How long would it take to get from Earth to Vulcan? Specifically, if one took one of the fancy Vulcan cruisers, the type that Vulcan's highest dignitaries are escorted on?

Regards,

Buurman

EDIT: According to "Damage" (and memory alpha ;) ), it would take approximately 12 days at warp 3 (4 lightyears take 3 days, Vulcan is 16 lightyears from Earth).
According to "Broken Bow" (the "Neptune and back in six minutes"-line) it would take one-fifth (0.2) of a year or approximately 72 days at warp 4.5 Hmmmm ... not entirely consistent. I guess that means I can make up whatever I want, especially if I use Vulcan cruisers at warp 7 :D

Yes, there is no consistency. Don't think about it too hard. 8) There is a joke about starships traveling "at the speed of the plot" or something. Maybe one of you guys remember the line.
I'm donating my body to science fiction.

I do, actually. That was Babylon 5 I believe (definitely another SciFi serie though). I just hoped there might have been some previous mention. Drat! I don't like making things up ... I have to remember all my fanon, you know. Now I know how RJ must have felt :explode:
