I ran across a fic, quite a while ago but no longer recall where or the title, in which Enterprise encounters a small spherical object that did not like Vulcans. It turns out to be a recording device sent out from an old race

That does sound like an interesting story! Unfortunately I don't know it either. Are you sure those small spherical objects were not furry? Those objects did not like Klingons.

Can you remember amy key words or phrases?

I wish I could. Don't think it was a TnT fic, rather a gereral Ent. thing. Gad I have read so many fics they all mush together after a while and I only recall bits and pieces.

Still no joy. I do recall the object was low warp capible, like warp 1. It was a recording device that observed civilizations. After they got it to respond it gave them a view of Earth's pre history.

Also noticed triptofan appears to be gone. any of those stories archived anywhere?

Using the Internet Archive Wayback Machine, I was able to pull these pages:

I checked the fanfic I have saved on my HD, and I found Chapter 3 of "The Devil to Pay." I also have the first 2 chapters of "The First Duty" (I don't know if it was ever finished) and the complete "The Last Full Monty."

Since the Wayback Machine isn't all-inclusive, it might be that the only way to find all of Erin and Maggie's stories (even the unfinished works) would be to put out a general call on a few different BBS to see if anyone saved them. Perhaps they could be collected in one place for interested readers to DL.

Here is a list of the stories at triptofan as of August 2007, if anyone else has any of these stories tucked away on their hard drive...

And having read the first two chapters as well as Duct Tape and Poker Faces, I can only sit in awe that there's a writer who actually manages to put Trip through more suffering than Drogna does.

Also I really want to kill Archer right now, but I assume I'll get over it.

I don't think I dare start the others that aren't complete unless somebody out there has the rest of them.

I want to kill Archer because poor Trip is dying and he's keeping T'Pol away like an idiot. Meanwhile you've got Trip vomiting up his lifeblood and crying in frustration. And then Archer has the nerve to think T'Pol is being insensitive. So I just want to kill him. But as I said, I'll get over it.

Jeez, I didn't remember any of that. I thought Archer was great in this story. So I went back and read again... Let's just say we interpreted those scenes really differently, LOL.

I'll be interested to hear what you think of him after reading Chapter 3...
