I probably would have just because even though I don't trust their judgment in other aspects of the show, I trust their judgment in selecting competent actors to fill the roles. Star Trek has always had some good acting for even the most clichéd characters. If CT and JB were not at audition, I'm sure they would have found someone who could fill the roles, but would probably interpret them just a little differently. After all, they made good choices selecting actors for it before, why couldn't they be able to do the same just a couple years later?

In my case, I probably wouldn't have watched it; the reason I tuned in the very first time was my friend's comment that I had to check out the chemistry between the chief engineer and the Vulcan. But you never know...
