Anyone interested in a round robin?

This idea sprang out of the"What inspires you"? in the TnT Discussion forum.

Panyasan suggested an idea of a possible Doctor Who/Enterprise crossover (?) with Malcolm as the Doctor and Hoshi as his Companion. I liked the idea and asked if there was anyone interested in doing it as a round robin? I volunteered to do the base story and editing duties on this one. So far Panyasan and Distracted said they were interested, but if we're doing this as a RR, we need a few more authors!

Anybody know what happens when a Time Lord dies and then comes back to life as a new person? Where does the new body come from? Was that ever explained in Dr. Who? Or is it just supposed to be the same body somehow rearranged? I'm scratching my head trying to come up with a way for Malcolm to actually BE the Doctor without having to be a Time Lord undercover all along, a concept which sorta stretches credibility since we've seen both of his parents and his little sister on screen. Time Lords don't have families as far as I remember.

I always got the impression that their cells were "regenerated" and "rejuvenated", and in the process, the appearance changes. There's supposed to be some sort of period after their regeneration (15 hours) that the new body is both physically and mentally unstable. I remember the first ep with David Tennant (after Christopher Eccleston left), DT's Doctor got his hand cut off, but because it was within the 15 hour limit, he was able to "grow" a new one.

As for families, I think the very 1st Doctor had his granddaughter traveling with him, so they HAD to have families at SOME point.

You could go for the alternative, because Malcolm as time lord is a bit hard to achieve and make Hoshi the (real) doctor's companion. Malcolms tags along, just like Rose Taylors (ex-)boyfriend or better like captain Jack. The good thing is that those people who come along, really got a chance to shine in the show, so it's not a bad thing.

Hmmm. Now I really need to watch some Dr. Who, since I couldn't write a believable OC Time Lord if my life depended on it.
