Happy endings? Sad endings?

Re: Happy endings? Sad endings?
I like Austen for her wit and how she mocks any pretence and her books are fun to read. Liked the sensible sister from Sense and Sensibilty and Elizabeth Bennet. Don't care much about Emma - a bit too spoiled for my taste.
I also seems to sympathize with the clever outcasts in books. Any way I have to start caring about a person for a book to become a favorite.

Love is a verb.

Silverbullet I like poetry too. I wasn't trying to mock anything.

Happy endings, sad endings, I like them both as long as they fit the story. Most of all I like endings that make you THINK.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.

Sad endings are more fun to write somehow.

Not for me. I like writing happy endings better. Touching bittersweet happy endings that make you cry when you write them are the best. You know, the "God, I'm good" endings.

LOL. Yes, those are definitely the most fun.
So much better than the damned "Okay, I've said everything I want to say, now how the hell do I get out of this without looking like a total amateur?" endings. (I just wrote one of those.)
OMG, ANOTHER new chapter! NORTH STAR Chapter 28

Re: Happy endings? Sad endings?
I like endings that feel REAL! Be that happy, sad, or somewhere in between if it feels real I love them. Case in point, Terra Prime was heartbreaking, that little girl dying YIKES! But it ended with hope, despite the pain and it felt real. Oh and Alelou's Having his baby was AWESOME!

Yes, endings that leave you laughing and crying and applauding your computer screen. Everyone please try for that.

Re: Happy endings? Sad endings?
It had never occurred to me that it would be harder to end a story than to begin one.

I'm not sure why, but I always think of the beginning as rough, something I can come back and fix as often as needed -- so I don't feel much pressure there -- but by the time I get to the ending (and quite often I do skip ahead to the ending), I'm somehow hoping it will come down to me like lightning from Zeus and give an additional layer of meaning to the whole thing.
Not that it actually happens that way nearly as often as I'd like, of course. In fanfic, I feel like I got there perhaps just a bit with Commander Tucker Has a Baby, the expanded version of Commander Tucker Falls in Love, and maybe the Locum, and not much else.
I have a novel suspended in the middle because the plot got so complicated it made my eyes cross, but I already wrote the ending and I love the ending. So somehow someday I have to go back and work it out properly just so I can get to that ending!

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Yes, I also count on the lightning from Zeus, lol . . . which actually comes along and strikes more times than not. Just put away your story and wait a day or two.
