Bio-poem game

Postby Distracted » Thu Mar 29, 2012 2:46 am

Okay. So here's a poetry form that requires NO syllable count and NO rhyming words. Think of a character in ANY Star Trek series, ANY episode (please make it somebody obvious!) and do it from their POV. Whoever guesses the character gets to write the next one.

Write an Instant Bio-Poem
Method:
Line 1: I wish I...
Line 2: Like...
Line 3: And I dream...
Line 4: I am...
Line 5: I used to...
Line 6: But now I...
Line 7: I seem to...
Line 8: But I'm really...

I'll go first.

I wish I could tell her how I feel
Like an impenetrable wall, propriety forbids
And I dream of almond eyes and dark silken hair
I am lost
I used to believe I could do without love
But now I know otherwise
I seem to be impervious to pain
But I'm really a coward

You got it. Your turn, SB. Just complete the sentences as if you were a Star Trek character.

I really like Distracted's opener, and I can't get over how well it fits for a certain two other characters after changing four key words ...

Yeah, I can see how it could be. But I had Malcolm in mind.

Hey, SB, you there? We want to play the game! :poke:

I just got a pm from SB asking to be excused from his poem. Anybody else want to volunteer? The first person to post a response gets to do the next one.

Then I'll just go ahead and do it...

I wish I had foreseen this.
Like the avians, I made a fatal mistake,
And I dream now only of a refuge for my children.
I am a fool.
I used to believe that we were civilized beings,
But now I see that the fate I wrought on others is my own.
I seem to see my loved ones in their innocence,
But I'm really only seeing his terrible eyes.

Wonderful! I'm pretty sure I know who it is, but I'll give someone else the chance to guess.

Who else wants to play? No syllable count... No rhyming... no problem!

Oh dear . . . are you sure you wouldn't rather have a Thai song translated into English (my new, fun, time-gobbling obsession)? Probably not . . .

OK, I will try at lunchtime.

Can we cut it down to 5 or 6 lines...8 makes it kinda obvious, even for me..
RIP Tom, I will miss you, as will many others
