And I wonder if "Human" is routinely capitalized out there in the real world?

No, it's not! It's one of the annoying things about writing ST fanfic. :raspberry:

Today hubs took me to a small university in town to visit the liberary (he loves that place). I walk in and see the display of new books. One of them is called "The matrix code." It's an analysis of SF movies and the effect of technology on our culture. It's about the movie The Matrix and...Star Trek (...and other SF). I open the book and there are a couple of lines about Star Trek, telling the revolutionair vision and breaking down barriers of the makers of ST in TOS, TNG, VOY and DS9. Then it goes "we would except that this line would continue, but the last show, called Enterprise the makers seemed not want to create ground breaking television and uninspired they choice a captain, called Jonathan Archer and he is a white American male."
I am so curious about this book: I borrowed it!!! (Actually hubs took it, because he thought it was so interesting - but I am going read it too...)

You know you're a Trek fan when . . . you go to the bookstore to browse and come out with "Moral Minority" (history), "Eat, Love, Pray" by Elizabeth Gilbert and "Things I Overheard While Talking to Myself" by Alan Alda (memoirs), and "Star Trek Online: The Needs of the Many" by Michael A Martin and Jake Sisko YES! JAKE SISKO, lol . . . How could I not buy a book by Jake Sisko??? It says this is "An original novel based on the massively multiplayer online role-playing game." I'm going to take this stuff to the Texas Star Party. :D

I was intrigued because it sounds like the story evolved from the game, from the fans. Maybe that's the game Emberchyld was talking about.

....You manage to get the United Federation of Planets into your undergrad globalization class. And the whole class looks at you as if to say, 'Oh no. She's one of those....those Trekkies. I've heard about them.'

....................you buy tickets for something called "Star Trek Live," at a local college even though you're not really sure what it is.
---------------------------------------------------------
After I wrote that I found out more.

Star Trek Live is a touring interactive stage show that will be appearing at theme parks and performing arts centers across America, starting in 2010.

Audience members join Starfleet Academy only to be unexpectedly whisked into an adventure steeped in the grand tradition of Star Trek itself. STAR TREK LIVE combines cutting-edge special effects, unmatched audience interaction, and cool science to create an exhilaration and unforgettable theatrical experience.

The 60 minute show will have audience members playing the parts of Starfleet cadets, who are learning from Captain Kirk and Mr. Spock, when the Enterprise is attacked and you set off on an adventure that will combine Star Trek fun with real science.
:vulcan: Sounds Neat.

... When you go on a once in a lifetime trip to New Zealand, fly in a helicopter over a glacier, and all you can think of is, "Boy, it looks like Andoria down there!"

Nope. I was actually proud of myself for my restraint, since we were wearing headsets that allowed everyone aboard the helicopter to hear what we said and I didn't want the pilot to think I was nuts, but I guess that does put my Trek fan credentials in doubt. 8)

Eh, the pilot was probably a Trekkie too.

One of the professors at a conference on campus this week made a reference to her two dogs and their Klingon names, and half the people in the room (all profs) had the same happy/nervous laugh.

You know that you're a Trek fan - and especially a TnT fan - when you think of Trip and T'Pol when Crown Princess Victoria of Sweden marries Daniel Westling (now Prince Daniel), a man of the people.
She's got an awfully nice bum!
