Give her character, make her seem exotic, a reminder of the Klingon temper, I think all these things make her what she is. She seems so vulnerable without the ridges, less herself. Of course that is how her human half was played in that episode - not even as a strong human, but as a weak human. But that was to make greater contrast between her two sides, I think.
Working on a major fan fic project. Two-thirds done. Hope to put it up in the not TOO distant future.
