I am!

It's in the real timeline. It's in one of my favourite time periods, the "Pike era". It supposedly has a cold war feel it it, think Balance of Terror and The Undiscovered Country. Can't wait until January! :D

It has been postponed for a May 2017 premiere, instead of January. Frankly, I'm not surprised. There was no way they could manage to make a decent show from scratch in just a few months. I think the extra time will be good for the show, even if we have to wait longer for it.

I have a hard time seeing the program making it, via CBS Online (especially if its commercial free). I could see it getting picked up by Netflix or a similar service.

Not sure if this is the right thread, but here goes.

Saw this article in The Guardian mentioned today. The author discusses Star Trek in general, Discovery, and Enterprise. She expresses her wish that Discovery might find a way to undo the events of the Enterprise finale. (Sigh, we can dream, can't we?) A nicely written article too. She has a great analysis of the TnT relationship as well.

I came across this editorial last week. The author discusses Discovery and Enterprise, and has some nice insights on TnT. Thought the folks here might be interested.

Sweet!

I wish I had access to this show. I'm going to have to wait till it's on Netflix dvd. I live out in the sticks where my only internet access is on my phone and my tv is thru satellite.

Has anyone watched the entire first season. I only saw the first episode and have not signed up for CBS All Access yet. Is it worth the monthly charge?

I was thinking that I might sign up if I can binge old TV series that I never saw all of the episodes on (e.g. CSI).

I ended up getting AllAccess as a bonus to another CBS owned service I was subscribed to. I have really enjoyed it. As for Discovery, I loved season 1 but had problems with season 2 and have paused for a while on season 3. I didn't have a problem with any of the main characters, but the story line especially the Section 31 related stuff. It didn't fit well into its supposed place in the timeline. My personal favorite, however is Picard.

I enjoyed s1 but..

SPOILER!!!:
Ash/Burnam ship was a copy of Buffy/Angel and I can't unsee it.

I actually loved s2.

And my mu-self loved that it violated the good-ol-fanboy-club head-canon.

Now S3...

SPOILER!!!:
It seems everyone loves Emperor Phillipa Georgiou. I don't. It's just that she's up in everyone's face being a bitch for the sake of being a bitch.
She is a missed opportunity. If they want to convey to us that she's an antihero we need a bit more back stabbing. The missed opportunity I see is this: Burnam and co want to rebuild a UFP, and she should be her MU self and take over everything Burnam tries to build. Because that's who she is. But s3 turned her into the Discovery crew pet redemption project. She makes a terrible Tom Paris or Seven of Nine. Probably good they wrote her off. I won't miss her.
