It is unfortunate that I am unable to contribute an adult comment to this debate. Let's just say that T'Pol is/was splendiferous in her logic.

LOL... Is "splendiferous" even a real word?

I always thought they should have saved the fan service for special scenes, instead of having it essentially all the time. Then again, TPTB were too chicken to actually do much beyond the catsuit when it came to VOY, not even TV side-boob. Still would have preferred normal uniforms for them when they were supposed to be on duty.

Once she was commissioned a commander in Starfleet, it made absolutely no sense for her to wear her sexy catsuits. I also don't see why a culture that covers itself in voluminous robes a good part of the time would settle on body-hugging catsuits for military uniforms. But whatever. A lot of things in TV scifi make no sense unless you're thinking of the 18-34 male demographic.

And I suspect they even got THAT wrong (there being, of course, no way for me to prove this assertion).
My belief is that the 18-34 male demographic would have been just fine with T'Pol in a Starfleet uniform.

I think there is an audience for well-written, well-made science fiction on TV and I think Enterprise wanted that audience but they came up short, in part because of nonsense like the catsuits.

Mamma mia! How many problems!
But the old saying "Even the eye wants its part," where did it end?
Of course, I speak as a male (and, of course, a male who failed to progress), but - what do you want? - I am a male (who failed to progress).

Like I said, I don't mind the catuits. And besides, most Starfleet uniforms have been butt ugly, including the ones in ENT. And why is it that people get worked up about the catsuits, but we very seldom hear complaints about the TOS miniskirts... :dunno:

of course "splendiferous" is a word. sheeseh. Anyone who would imply that T'Pol is less than splendiferous is a traitor to their country!!

I, for one, complain about the TOS miniskirts.

Yeah, me too. They're even worse. At least cat suits offer some protection/warmth. I was very annoyed to see them in the new movie.

But I will put up with a lot for my Trek.

I have some difficulty understanding why the mini skirts are perfectly accepted in real life (I do not believe to be wrong if I say that we are literally surrounded by them) and they can not be present in Star Trek.

Me too. It's been a while since I watched it tho, but that was one of the most annoying things about classic Trek. Ever since I started watching Trek when I was like 7 years old, I was always like, "Dad, how can those ladies work in those uniforms?" and he could never explain it to me... Looking back on it I guess he couldn't find a way to explain to his little girl that in the future women grew up to be little more than eye-candy.
