hey.... a lottof us could be celebrities.
Y'know what I loved most about the NonCon '08 ("Fed"Con.....not)?
The internet.
The last cons I went to were:
1993 Michael Dorn
1994 Jonathan Frakes
1994 Bill Shatner
1994 Armin Shimerman
1995 Brent Spiner
All in Vancouver, BC. All Creation Cons. All at the Hyatt, except for The Shat who insisted on having it several miles away at the
PNE (Pacific National Exhibition). Cause of the horsies. Shat likes the horsies.
He really really really does.
All awesome good times. I was 13, 14, 15 years old. "Fanfiction" was this weird thing in a "published" sort of spiral bound paper "zine". I never thought much of it. Fanfiction? Who wants to read that? I thought.
Then in 1996 everyone and their dog got the "World Wide Web".. ( remember calling it that??
we were all so cute! bbs's!! gopher!!
)
But *I* didn't go to another con till 2008. (Ahem...and what a CON it was, too.
) But I actually loved it, regardless. Much to Rigil Kent's chagrin, I have always forgiven Trek all things (except the beebs) and that includes conventions. It was a bitchin' good time as far as I was concerned. And I came the farthest physically of almost anyone there. And I was knocked up and I threw up on the planes. And it was STILL bitchin' good times. BITCHIN'!
And my point:
At the 2008 con (early on on Friday, whilst it still lived and breathed) I marvelled at how the inet had CHANGED cons! Every 7th person you talked to was someone from HoT or TriS or within a degree or two of said boards, TriS and HoT. Message boards! Crazy difference to the con.
OH: and also, we met up with internet strangers and hung out with them and they were awesome.
