I just don't like sleeping with men if I can possibly help it: their not soft enough for proper cuddling... that, and they don't smell as nice

Bring your man JT... he'll love it... if only for the material ;)

PFT! Cheap and boring!

KIDDING! :guffaw:

You know, for FedCon they had a limit of 4 per room for the $119/night price and 2 per room for the $109 price.

If I recall, The Las Vegas Hilton didn't put a limit on people (we had 3 one night, right?) and the rooms were the same - 109 or 110. I remember paying $55 the night that me and John shared a room when you and Beth shared a room.

You can save some serious coin that way. Ok. I've used up my weekly alotment for the word "coin".

I have no problem sharing a room with people and usually what works with total strangers is to get a room with 2 beds, say you pack 5 people into that room, you draw straws or flip a coin for who gets the beds each night, not allowing the same person to get the bed twice. And then everybody else sleeps in sleeping bags on the floor. Actually, I might try the bathtub. I've always wanted to fill a bathtub with blankets and pillows and sleep in it...

Matter of fact... maybe I did do that when I was younger... during my "I'm a Honduran refugee" phase 8)

Oh! And you all DESERVE to be famous. (My honest opinion.) ek needs to have her own TV show. A "Mork and Mindy"-type thing, except Mindy is the alien.

Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four

And here is the beginning of the whole story.

But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Ut-oh . . . I made a big mistake . . . I asked my husband if he wanted to go to the Star Trek con. He reminded me that I'd convinced him we didn't have enough money for him to go to his columnist convention this year . . . where last year he hung out with Dave Barry and argued with Bill O'Reilly. (I don't even remember saying that, but I probably did :( I'm horrible.) So now it comes back to bite me.

Anyway . . .

Oh, but then he goes. "I don't really care about meeting stars. I'm more interested in meeting other writers." I went, "EXACTLY!"

:)

Well, now at least he understands this phenomenon.

After much effort (and major puppy dog eyes) I managed to get this response from my husband:

*big sigh* "Well.... if you REALLY want to go to THIS THING... I guess we can go... "*another big sigh*

So... Happy Every-Holiday-Even-Remotely-Associated-With-Gift-Giving-In-This-Decade to me!!! :D

I'M GOING TO VEGAS!!!

We bought the airline tickets last night, and I've decided that since everything I want to see is on Friday and Saturday that we'll fly in Thursday am, do the "Star Trek Experience" on our own Thurs pm early BEFORE the 200 dollar a head private party, then go to the con Friday and Saturday, and fly back Sunday am since we've both got to be back at work and chipper Monday am. Limiting the days that way was the only way I was able to keep my cost estimate down below 2,500.00 (just barely ). As for not staying in the Hilton... that's just not gonna happen. I have NO desire to walk the streets of Las Vegas. :?

Anybody wanna meet us at "The Star Trek Experience" Thursday afternoon and have our own private party? Online tickets for the thing are 38 dollars. We can't buy them yet, though. They're only valid for a month after purchase.

Oh... and "The Boys of Enterprise" lunch at Benihana on Friday is a must. It's like 85 bucks, but if you price Benihana and add the fees for personal interaction with Connor, Dominic, AND Anthony, it's a pretty good deal. We should have a TriS table. :D

*the sound of crickets chirping*

Ah.

Okay.

Now don't everybody all line up at once! 8)

Seriously, though... I hope at least a couple of you can manage to be there. It really does look like a lot of fun, and "The Star Trek Experience" may very well be closing this December. Haven't you guys always wanted to go? I know I have. Even without the convention. :D

Rooms at the Hilton are 135.00 per night at the convention rate. Is this other hotel cheap enough to be worth the hassle and the cab fare?

Well as you know there's like a million hotels in Vegas as well as motels etc so I really don't know which one's the cheapest, but I was talking about the Circus Circus (which is a good hotel) I stayed there with my parents and sisters like 3 years ago in the summer (mid July) in a room for 4 people (we were 5 people though) and it was like $40something a night. A room with only one bed might be even cheaper I don't know. And my parents didn't make any reservations or whatever they just started shopping for hotel/motel rates when we got to Vegas. And it's literally like 2 blocks or so straight line from the Hilton, a cab ride really shouldn't cost too much for that distance. But anyway that's just the one hotel I have experience with and you should really look at other hotels/motels in the area to get a better picture.

I walked the strip, it's not so bad. Of course this was at night, when it was cool out...

I had a cabbie refuse to take me to my hotel from whatever casino I was dropping my family off at because the hotel was "only 8 blocks away", and it was like 12:30 AM. I actually REALLY got into it with him which I don't usually do in public, but I started cussing him out when he wouldn't even take a huge tip to take me there, so he got out of the cab. I'm a guy, and I wasn't terrified or anything, but we're talking the sleezy corners of Vegas that I walked 8 blocks to get back to my hotel. Not something I would recommend women do. You just don't want to bank on doing a lot of walking on the Vegas strip just to get from point A to point B.

Me and Priso on the other hand, gotta go find us some asian massage parlors :D

---Edit:

By the way, I just have to lay this out before we go any further --- If I am able to attend (which will include selling everything in my possession to do so), for those who attended in Dallas, Star Trek Theatre won't be nearly as impressive. Since I'll be flying, I won't be able to cart my PC or my 5.1 surround sound speakers.

But it would still probably be better than it was in Jersey - which was just sound and video from my laptop , and we all crowded around it and watched like 6 episodes and a Jolene movie ( good times. We had fun making fun of it - Shadow Puppets). I think I can swing bringing a little pair of stereo speakers and my monitor is like a must because the biggest thing that bothers me about using a laptop is how the viewing angle sucks for multiple people watching.

Hmmm. That must be the problem, then. I never did anything over "spring break" when I was actually in college except go home and use the time to catch up on homework and paper writing. My husband asked me WHY I wanted to go to Vegas since I just saw Connor and none of you are likely to be able to go, and I couldn't tell him. I just wanna see "The Star Trek Experience". Always have. Guess my inner college student wants a spring break.
