at least make it through the day. he had enough guests to make the programming work and i dont see the hotel letting him out of fees since they couldnt rebook the space.
if things were so dire with the hotel (and some of it sounds fishy.) a week out he could have canceled the con and most people could have gotten some refunds ect since there would be more then 48 hours notice.
frankly some of the stuff i read from tim has been contractictory.
and i dont see a hospital letting someone go if their spinal cord was leaking.
i used to do a sf fan newsletter which i have been considering bringing back for awhile.
i am considering sending tim's claims about what happened with the hyatt to their sales manager and ask them for their side of the story.
reading through the fedcon forum i saw i know some of the dealers who were there so i will be asking more about their take on the situation.
Pookha were you there??? If you were there I wish we'd have known! I'd have wanted to meet you too!

I don't mean anything derogatory, but Poor CT looked punch drunk in that photo. Either MU T'Pol outfit or the con being canceled had him reeling. Or maybe it was jet lag. Dunno. But he seemed to have a little bit of a dazed look in his eye to me. Like one more finger flick would send him right over.
And EK is definitely glowing like a lantern in those photos. Did everyone else notice that?

nah sorry not there.
but i am trying to piece together what happened and make some notes.
there are a lot of contradictions and most now seem to center around the hotel and some of the guests.
tim claims he paid the hotel about a week before the con 20,000 upfront but there is some info that says the hotel was not paid.

There was this cool bellman that helped me out all weekend that when I was leaving, said that when you have a convention of a certain size, you get the convention areas free as long as you bring in enough patrons - enough hotel rooms. He said anyway, that that number was not reached and that's why the hotel asked for more money. If Tim/his people are characterizing it as if they unfairly asked for more money, maybe they just didn't read the fine print and didn't know that if they didn't have X number of patrons, that they'd have to pay for the room. Who knows.
I'm sure I could just jog over to TrekUnited and all of this would be being blared all over their page. At least their version, anyway.

Very nice!
Well yes. I continue to write. And on Fanfiction.Net, for those who want, it is possible to cast a glance at my latest efforts. We arrived to
The Ears of the Elves, chapter Forty-four
And here is the beginning of the whole story.
But, I must say, you could also find something else on Fanfiction.net written by me. If you want.

Actually, in the group photo she's a fraction teary eyed (since we'd JUST found out about the cancellation) but smiling bravely despite that... and yes, she glowed like a neon sign the entire weekend.

She is just an irridescent individual by nature

Does anyone else think that Priso had his stoic Malcolm Reed impression down quite well?

How would YOU look if you'd just found out that the event you'd just traveled over 2000 miles to get to (in order to make your pregnant wife happy because she's the most important person in the world to you even though you really aren't much of a Trekker) had just been cancelled?
Poor things. Both of them.
I hope they have an unbelievably good time at the Grand Canyon.

You know, it would be kind of neat if, instead of an official con like this, if the TriS/HoT/WWBJB crew could get together for their own con - TnTCon or something - and do whatever. For me it would be more about meeting you all anyway.
