Sounds interesting, but ...
DARPA wrote:"Consequently we are not taking starship crew applications at the present time."

Yeah sorry I forgot to mention it guys :duh: , I've been so busy getting ready for it. Long story short, a few months ago I came across this - I think we might've discussed it here - and over at TrekBBS in the tech area, and I got the idea to present an 'advanced version' of the electric thruster design we're working on in my lab on campus. I got my advisor's approval, put together an abstract and submitted it. We heard back around August that we got accepted and thus began this mad dash to actually write a paper :explode: . Eventually we got done, it was accepted formally, and I went and presented it just this last weekend. It was a rockin weekend. Most people thought this would be a few dozen nuts in tin hats :vulcan: but it turned out to be an extremely serious, and large scientific audience - I met people from NASA, Dept of Homeland Security, industry, science fiction authors (it's too bad I"m not into contemporary science fiction I would've probably been starstruck but I didn't know a single one of them). I talked to a guy named George Zebrowski (http://www.amazon.com/George-Zebrowski/ ... 124&sr=8-2), anybody know his work? Fascinating guy. Anyway, more details in a bit.
