Believe me, I would love to go, and if it had been last year then I totally would have been there. But I'll be back at home in the UK, looking for a job and probably not getting very far :-(

Y'all will have to take some pics for me, or Skype it so I can watch it at home with a cup of tea and some decent toast with my dog on my knee :-)

If I were to do it, it would be at the last minute, so as not to feel guilty for long about spending all that money. But no, . . . . I shouldn't. I've had enouph. I'll be there for the big 50th anniversary! :D

In today's economy I'm pretty much done with cons until I need to go to market my novel...which at my current speed of completion might very well be the 50th anniversary or later.

Dis you do not want to know the state of mine.

Honestly, I never thought I'd like to go to a Con. I don't do well in crowds, and I nearly fainted when Chef Martin Yen (Yen Can Cook) kissed my hand at a cooking demonstration at a local winery when I was 14. I was so panicked I wouldn't even let daddy stay to get the cookbook. If I ever met someone from Trek (even Scott Bakula) I'd need Dis around with Valium and Oxygen...

But if I could pay for it, in this moment I'd book a flight I swear to god. I'm just so sick of my life I need a diversion.

WG, one thing I learned from working on TV and movie sets is that they are just regular people. ESPECIALLY celebrities that go to cons. If they have star-trips or huge egos they don't GO to conventions and interract with fans.

I don't think you can get more humble than Martin Yen. I was 14 years old and I swear I was almost a foot taller than the man, but he bowed and kissed my hand, and I was holding on to crutches. And for some reason I was mortified. I couldn't fantom it, I was a chubby, cranky 14 year old and this tiny old gentleman treated me like Queen Elizabeth, and said I was beautiful. I burst into tears. Dad got so mad, and I told mom I'm crying because I don't understand why he was so nice! I'm NOTHING!

Ahhhh teen angst. Only I still get embarrassed if anyone is so nice to me... I mean if by some miracle I met :tom: and :torres: and they were nice. Forget it. I'd die of a stroke. I practically go into convulsions if my mom tells me I look pretty.

Then don't go to conventions, because I met Robbie Duncan McNeil, and he's nice.
