I would like to welcome our newest author, Cap'n Frances with the brand new finale fix submission Against Technical Advice which I KNOW is sure to stir up those anti-finale juices, it did for me! That bastard Jason, we all know his real name was Brannon Braga :doubt: :doubt: :evilmonkey:

Enjoy!

Great new stories up to read here! I also have a new story for Triaxian Silk, but it must have been "lost in the mail" or something. So I will just mention that it has been up at fanfiction.net for a while and is called Letters Home. It is under my nom de plume there of 'Bineshii".

Nice article about someone overcoming her prejudice against fan fiction.

And here is my recurring apology: I'm miles behind on reading and commenting (and writing, for that matter). Sorry. Just spent a week down in Florida with the folks, now I'm scrambling to get my semester read, the house is being painted, and my book is going on special tomorrow without much marketing support from me at all.

Sigh. I await a simpler life in a new home with great eagerness.

A nice article, yes, but I am still miffed about her "former" attitude. Writer's personal fantasy? What the heck does THAT mean? Doesn't all creative writing involve a writer's personal fantasy or personal nightmare? Doesn't it all come from personal experience and observation of life or inspiration of other author's characters which is in turn based on their experience of reading still other author's work and experience of life? How egotistical of a teacher of literature to make a judgement of fan fiction as the lowest of the low in the literary world! Fan fiction has the same span of poor to excellence in writing as work that an author has been paid for.

True -- but it's nice that she was able to admit she was wrong. There is a bit of a stigma still out there (and others who simply have no idea what it is), so I'll take this conversion with gratitude!

I wonder what some people may think of Lucian of Samosata. Mh ... perhaps I should say "could".
