Ah. Well, that explains it. Hopeful Romantic's stuff must just confuse the hell out of you, then, huh?

A lot of people use that episode to hypothesize that Malcolm is gay. I prefer to believe that he's just relationship challlenged. Very Happy

not quite, I do know what happens in that episode, but I haven't seen in on cellulose yet.

I'm relationship challenged, but not in a small way!

I thought I was, too, until I found the right person. I think there's someone out there for everyone, even us nerdy trekkers. The challenge is to find them.

Given the nature of his job, I find it more likely that he was KIA during a mission. They never said that Reed died of old age, or anything, merely that the Reed line came to an "abrupt and unceremonious end". Seems logical that he died with his boots on...

Sigh. Yeah, I guess that's also a reasonable explanation for why he had no children. A damned depressing one. Maybe less depressing than the idea that he grew old alone in a ship full of couples and children just because he was too emotionally closed to open up to someone, though. Confused

Do you recall that fic by Kevin where he expanded on T'Pold's convo with T'Pol? In it, she (T'Pold) spoke of a relapse of the trell-d addiction that resulted in Trip being really jacked up by T'Pold and Archer removing her from the XO slot. In a case like that, I could easily see Archer making Reed the XO (since he needs Trip in Engineering) and Malcolm being Malcolm doesn't find time for anything other than his job ... that could work too.

Although I personally maintain the KIA thing as more likely. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me entirely if he and Trip died on the same operation, so the Disaster Twins go out with a bang...

Here. Have Mal, Trip and T'Pol in haiku format.

Pretty explosion.
Pirates scattered and burning.
This is all Trip's fault.

This is all Mal's fault:
Boarding action gone awry.
I'm sorry, darlin'.

I can't feel him now
But I cannot grieve for long.
Lorian needs me.

Feh. I'm too busy rewriting season 3 over at Brunette Jolene. Twisted Evil

Finally tracked my previous ones. I still like the palindrome ... although it doesn't match "How do I love thee..."

Fire searing
Death burning bright
Hope is lost
Innocence is gone
War has come
Gone is innocence
Lost is hope
Bright burning death
Searing fire

*Sigh* You're such an optimist, huh? Good poem, though.

What? Very Happy

I think it fits nicely with either the E/R War that I write in my fics, or the Xindi attack on Earth...

ETA: I guess the other two haiku that I did might meet your approval more, huh?

angled brow pursed lips
emotion hidden but there
this is all trip's fault

by surak's logic
our emotion curbed and chained
control is the cost
