they look almost like chinchillas, which we have two of. They are also dry desert animals.

Hmm. This article says that "crepusculum" is latin for twilight.

 I wonder if the series would have done so well if it was called that?

I dunno.

(yes, just to post this comment, i found the stupid movie poster, found and downloaded the font, redesigned the poster in photoshop, uploaded it to my ftp, and then put it in here. I am probably the geekiest one of all of you. In fact, I defy any one of you to outgeek me. I throw down my gauntlet! :nerd: :nerd: :nerd: :reddawn: :nerd: :reddawn: :nerd: :wise: :porthos: :nerd: :nerd: :nerd:

I had a directory on my computer with a thousand or so Enterprise screen caps from various episodes, with names like breakingtheice_022.jpg. There were so many that it took a long time for my little netbook to open the directory, and since the files were sorted alphabetically, they weren't in any kind of logical order (like the order the episodes aired).

So I downloaded a text listing of all the episodes, then wrote a python script that would do the following:

1 - read the episode numbers and titles into an array, converting them to all lower case and removing any spaces.
2 - Create a directory with a name like [ep num]_[ep name] (for example 108_breakingtheice where 108 is season 1 episode 08)
3 - Loop through the directory, and rename all files by giving them a leading episode number (for example, breakingtheice_022.jpg became 108_breakingtheice_022.jpg). Then the script moved that file into the appropriate directory, created in step 2.

Now instead of a thousand screen caps all jumbled together in no logical order, I have a sorted series of directories, in season-episode order. I can go straight to 308_twilight and quickly find an image of T'Pol, resplendent in her Starfleet uniform.

I also work math problems for fun.

NEVER throw down the geek gauntlet to an engineer...

The thing is, I'm every bit as obsessive - I'm just so much less effective at it!

Your next challenge will be to use the Picasa face recognition feature to build up an index of who is in which picture.

(Please don't tell me you've already done it!) :rotflmao:

I have an ENT picture folder of 5,5 GB. And it has sub-folders, and sub-folders within sub-folders. And I have one sub-folder for each episode.

Not as geeky as Transwarp though...

Anyway, I didn't decide Vulcans "evolved" from bats, somebody who got paid to think it up did. Vulcans have hollow teeth like some bats do, possibly some echo location abilities, (T'Pol can sense wild shelats miles away) and other "bat like" things. Is it stupid scientifically? Probably. But Vulcans are aliens it's suposed to be FUN!

Dis that's the first rat I've ever seen in my life that I think is really cute.

Why use toilets when you have transporter technology? Just beam the waste directly from the intestines into the recycling tank.

And pay no attention to the forum subject line. If you wish to heap even more richly deserved praise and accolades at my feet, feel free to do so even if it is "Off Topic".

k, here's a fun thought....say we *do* start beaming our poopy out into holding tanks, so much so, and so well, that no one ever does it au naturel anymore, ever. And then when the CME hits and all the world's technology goes kaput, the top thing on everyone's The 10 Worst Things About Armageddon list would be "#1: Having to do my own poops." And then all the great-granddads would be all :wise: "I remember back in the old days, when I used to shite twice a day: y'know, I never liked those new fangled Excret-O-Matics anyhow..." and everyone else (around the fire with their tin plates) would be all, "Shut UP, Grandpa!"

Eehh.. you haven't seen toilets in Japan, ek. They almost as close beaming your "waste" (I have no idea what it is called in English) with a tracker beam. Almost. You still have to sit. For the rest: music, distracting music so nobody would know you doing it, water that springs forth for washing your behind, warm air to dry your behind. And these are toilets you will find in let me say the subway.

Back to the topic: I suggested a stomach where the water is stored, but I think a kidney to store water is also good. Maybe a totally new organ we as Human never heard about before? Because isn't the function of a kidney to get rid of (waste) fluid?

Actually I wish Vulcans did have an extra organ somewhere to help store water, it actually makes a lot of sense. More sense than the 3 lungs, 2 stomachs, and 2 livers your average :klingon: has. Unfortunately the person responsible for Vulcan anatomy wasn't as practical as the person responsible for Klingon anatomy. Here's the diagram... http://www.stogeek.com/w/images/8/81/VulcanBio.jpg
