BREAKING! Jolene had a baby!

Oh my, this comes as a surprise. I didn't even know she was pregnant.

Listen to this radio talk show interview with John Billingsley (scroll down a bit to "Featured episode"). About six minutes in he mentions that Jolene Blalock had a baby. Alas, he doesn't say much more, and not if it's a boy or a girl. I haven't found anything else online.

But anyway, congratulations to her and her hubby. This is great news!

There was some speculation as to why she stopped playing Nicci on Legend of the Seeker before it was canceled. I'll bet this has something to do with it!

Wonder why the news isn't on Jolene's Twitter or blog. she must be proud of her new child. I would think she would want to shout out the news to the world.

My thoughts too. Privacy. When I was a new mother, my world shrank to me and the baby. I didn't want anyone interfering with that early bonding experience. I almost had to be forced to "share" the baby. Had sharp twinges of panic if she was out of my sight for more than a few minutes. And that was just with family. I can't imagine what I would feel if I had fans who wanted in on the baby too.

As much as we feel like we "know" the stars of the show, and as much as we love them for all the entertainment and happiness they've brought us, this really is a time for just friends and family. I'm sure there'll be a press release at some later date but for now, Mom should have her day.

I emailed Mark Wilson, the sci-fi guide at About.com to see if he knew anything about this. Just heard back. He said he hadn't heard a word, that either it was all a big secret, or he thought maybe John Billingsley was goofing around. I sent Mark the link but I don't think he listened to it, because that most definitely didn't sound like "goofing around" to me--more like, "Oh, that reminds me...."

So I guess we won't know anything until Jolene and her husband are good and ready to tell. Which is fine...I just wanted to know if it was a boy or a girl, and about when exactly the little bundle arrived.

We'll probably hear something soon, since the cat's out of the bag now.
