It was already being planned... and now Drexler has finally completed work on it for the forthcoming Ships of the Line calander. Best of all, he's just revealed the plans for the new design on his blog. Think of the story possibilities...

Now he knows how I felt back in season 3 & 4! I finished Differential early to mid season 2, and a whole mess of my story points eventually ended up on screen - the appearance of Surak's katra, Trip and T'Pol's bond, and more. I prefer to imagine that Braga or someone else in the writer's office read the story and though, "You know, that's a good idea!" Far more likely it's just coincidence. But at least the pairing did happen on screen.

:guffaw: Seriously, the only reason I wrote that fic was because I had a love/hate thing with the idea.

I actually love the whole Alice K. idea.

Two other could have been amazing ideas: A musical episode (a la Buffy's once more with feeling) and a crossover with Doctor Who. Those are real heartbreakers.

I didn't mean to offend you. I did point out that you are brilliant and I love your work that isn't in decon. If you had done Family Secrets out of decon I would have read it happily and eagerly. But considering how well most of the ideas of TPTB came out in execution in the series I would have hated it on TV. That's what I meant.

OK I'll bite! Bring on the songs and dancing. Most Trek actors are incredibly talanted musically and with dancing. Besides a little music never hut anyone. But I draw the line at Dr. Who I don't see the phone booth working.

Oh, I wasn't offended WG. Nearly everyone who hasn't read my story tells me that they hate the idea of T'Pol being a Romulan. I'm so used to it, it's gotten kind of funny. Especially since I became obsessed with the idea after having an initial negative reaction. I'm hardly in a position to judge.

I didn't know if I could make the idea work and surprised myself by writing a pretty good fic with idea. I wouldn't have posted it or taken it to 31 chapters if I didn't think it was working - god knows I've scrapped a few fics in my day. But I for one am all for creative risks. I'd much rather say "that risk didn't work" versus "I've seen that a hundred times before."

I think ENT was at its best when it took creative risks. As for any idea - from a crossover to a musical - or even the T'Pol as a Romulan idea - it's all about the execution. I dislike musical theater in general and may be the only non straight male (*) who can't stand the show Glee but was blown away by the Buffy musical just because it was so daring and creative and pushed the cast to their creative limits. And a crossover between the two greatest Sci Fi TV franchises - Trek & Doctor Who? It's just intriguing. But talk about a high risk proposition.

I am a straight female - what I meant is that straight males tend to hate the show Glee - while gays, lesbians and straight women tend to love it. So, I referred to myself as the only non-straight male who doesn't like the show in that context, but even now I can't figure out how I could have made the point without making it sound like I'm a male. . . .

Oh - let me see. Rewrite:

"I'm the only straight female who hates the show Glee. I thought hating the show was the exclusive province of straight males. "

Actually, It's still M-rated on FF.net after the first chapter. The decon version is pretty similar to the one on ff.net.

Now, A Mirror Cracked is definitely much, much cleaner on ff.net. I only made it M because of the violence - Reed thinking of breaking Talas's fingers and then later the whole Reed cuts Tolaris into pieces but makes sure he's still alive thing. But the smut is expurgated.
