Makes sense about Paxton but that's not what we saw. So I just believe things are different in the ST universe. I mean come on did the media report on every aspect of the private lives of the astronaughts in the 60's? No. Their scandels came years later. Maybe it's the TOS years and the TNG years that makes me think things are different. We just didn't see the same media driven culture. And even in DS9, VOY, and ENT it was different. I can't explain it. But I just can't imagine going to the supermarket in the ENT era and seeing TnT on People Magazine. I just can't.

I also don't give humanity that much credit of being supportive of Inter-species love in the ENT era. It's always been a "regular anomaly" in Trek. Yes it happens often but with lots and lots of problems, both with society and the two people involved. Total acceptence is something strived for but never really achieved. The beauty comes in the couples sticking together despite the problems that never really go away.

it wouldn't have to be tabloid reports. Regular news channels would be interested in Paxton and his threats. And it would get out and be discussed. Paxton jammed the airwaves when he made his broadcasts of demands and I'm sure it was seen by anyone near a TV or view screen making him, Terra Prime, and baby Elizabeth of interest to the world.

But since Paxton never said the Child was Trip and T'Pol's I could see it being quashed by TPTB. That's all I'm saying.

There were lots of people in the place where Paxton called Trip and T'Pol for what they were. It wasn't possible to force all of them to remain dumb.

As someone already said, they have the child's body and they have the child's DNA. Not only that, they made reference to a memorial service that was going to be attended by diplomats from other planets. It would have to be information that would be available.

I know that convicts need permission to get access to the press. They regulate everything in prison. At least where I live they do.

No they only showed the baby and called her an abomination and threat to humans genetic integrity or something along those lines but enough people knew of this to spread the word and there is no way all those people kept quiet, especially after a memorial service. If Starfleet or the government tried to hide things it would be obvious and only incite more interest. And whatever factions that shared Terra Prime's goals would have made sure to get details and spread the word.

Convicts don't get access but trials are public events and anyone from Paxton's organization that was tried would have had a public trial and their lawyers have access to the press.

I'm sorry but I disagree. people thrive on gossip no matter what. If things are bad they want to feel better by seeing others doing worse than they are and if they are good they want something to alleviate their boredom and live vicariously through others.

The press reports what affects the public and baby Elizabeth and TnT's relationship would affect not only Vulcan/Human relations, but other species as well. I just can't see how it would not be reported.

Well like I said human society seems very very different in the ST universe when it comes to the culture. And how could it not be? It's a very different society. People are no longer driven by money in the sense we are today, there is no more poverty, war, even most sicknesses are treatable. Naturally society's outlook would change, they really wouldn't need a lot of scandal to make them "feel better." Now I agree Paxton's agenda would have made Baby Elzabeth a focal point of propaganda. But he did not say who she was created from and I see Starfleet and the government keeping it secret. And I think what gets reported by the media would be controled differently in the 22nd century.
