JK, that happens to me too! Occassionally I get a review on an old story at fanfiction.net. I use the stats to see which kind of stories people like best. But if they don't leave a review, you don't know if they liked, or even finished reading a story. It is interesting to see how few reviews you get compared to the number of hits on a story.

It's the same here only without the little numbers. Sometimes I wonder if the only people who like my story are my dear, lovely, perfectly wonderful regular reviews. And I know I'm not worthy of them, but sometimes you wonder.

Wish this site would lists hits too. So one could have a perspective on how many may have read a story as opposed to how many comneted on it. I have never put up a story on Fanfic or any sory site, yet.

There are lots and lots of lurkers. Elessar said as much in a post recently.

I am fine if people don't comment. But I do like that they are reading.

I think it is a shame that people feel afraid to comment or even post their own stories, especially if they are afraid because it will make them a target of negativity. I hate to hear of Warpgirl's experience with SW fans - that's just unnecessary. These kinds of fan communities, at their best, can really encourage people and celebrate media that we like.

Hey it wasn't all bad, I learned a lot. Especially about the value of sites like this and kotorfanmedia.com who work extremely hard to protect people from being targeted by such abusive people. I am always grateful, and a little awed by the amount of time and effort taken by the people who build, run, and maintain these sites.

Certainly possible. But I'm forever a nervous-nelly because of it. It was BAD! And I had it easy. Some people I knew had it MUCH worse. I just don't want to go through it again an ANY fandom.

It's been a long time since I looked at my own account there, but I THINK you can delete comments you find offensive. Doesn't take away the sting of having to hear it, I know, but at least it's not stuck there forever and ever.

I don't mind negative reviews. We grow from them. It's when people get mean just for the sake of being mean that I can't stand, of if they don't substantiate what they say--if you're gonna say "this story sucks," tell me WHY--plot hole? characterization issues? pacing? dumb idea all around? what???
