Re: T'Mir!
It just made me roll my eyes. It drives me NUTS when people think that all you have to do is combine a French accent with a southern drawl and you get Cajun--when what you actually get is just an actor who sounds like an idiot. I feel the exact same way when someone tries to act with a NY accent. B...

Re: T'Mir!
I have 5 reasons to watch True Blood:
Alcide Herveaux
Sam Merlotte
Eric Northman
Jason Stackhouse
Terry Bellefleur
And an honorable mention. Rene Lenier, murderous tendencies aside, he was cute but his pseudo Cajun accent had me weak in the knees!

Oooh... favorite retellings... "Bride and Prejudice" / "Bridget Jones' Diary" ( Pride and Prejudice ) tie as best retelling of that story "She's the Man" ( Twelfth Night )was cute but I do prefer the looser, older adaptation "Just One of the Guys" "Cluele...

Re: The Upsetting News Thread
I am so sorry. It hurts so much even when you're preparing for it. It's actually one of the reasons why I added it into one of my stories... a form of therapy. Your daughter's acceptance must be a comfort at this time.

Re: Generational Designations/Names
I agree that there are definitely influences that significantly shape each generation. What I meant by fluid was the overall change in reaction to those influences were so slight month by month and year by year that it was hard to see them until much later when the big picture could be seen. I was b...

Re: Generational Designations/Names
Honeybee, I think that's exactly it. Generations are fluid... like language. They are always changing. But after a certain amount of time has passed, people can see the larger picture from the small changes. Old English didn't become Modern English and Gen X didn't become Gen Y overnight, they were ...

Re: Generational Designations/Names
I associate Gen X with those of us who were young during the grunge era - and are currently wincing that Francis Bean Cobain is 18. :explode: :faint: I remember when she was born and you would have thought she was royalty with so much attention. The Hair-Band era was gasping its last breath, Grunge...

Re: Creativity Soundtrack
For me, the music isn't there to consciously hear it. Actually I have it somewhat low as background noise. I think it kind of sets a mood subconsciously for me because writing (at least for me) is all about the mood I'm in. And some of the songs inspire me not by the lyrics but the beat of the music...

Re: What do you do?
Have had exactly the same problem lately, although life continues to interrupt cruelly. I've done as Alelou suggested as well as listening to the same songs I listened to when originally thinking of the chapter and it works until life's little moments comes around to pull me away again. But music se...

Re: Yowling Rant
We came here with the full knowledge that this is the Bible Belt. There was/is no intention of changing the system but we made the conscious decision and effort to not have our daughter pressured into a religion whether from us or others. She's experienced several POVs, though, in small bites. We've...

Re: Yowling Rant
I dislike the argument too but when you have to enter the fray, you have to. Differences in religious beliefs was never an issue with me until I moved down here, but then it seemed almost unavoidable to become a little defensive otherwise some take it as an invitation to push and test their boundari...

Re: Yowling Rant
The first question, if in the context of the piece, should have been "According to" otherwise the question assumes a true statement (which is what I meant by being careful). As for the second question, at least here, there are so many wildly different beliefs about God, including Christian...
