Re: Wonky Science: Hybrids in Startrek

but since eye color is controlled by a single gene that has multiple alleles, it's impossible for a brown eyed woman to give birth to a blue eyed baby (or at least one that stays blue eyed longer than about 6 months) unless she also has blue eyes somewhere in her ancestry and is heterozygous for th...

Re: The Whine thread.

There's a scheme running in the UK where the government subsidises the cost of adding loft insulation to your house. And with energy prices shooting up I thought I'd take advantage of it, and get some insulation in before winter hits. There's a big section of my loft which is very narrow, so it mea...

Re: JustTripn & eK venture into the watery wolfy wilderness!

From time to time things get on top of me and I start to feel sorry for myself, but I always remind myself that many people in the world have to put up with far worse situations than I do, and cope with them far better than I would. There are several on this forum. I admire you all for keeping such...

Kotik, I'm sorry to hear about your disabilities as well - but lighten up on WarpGirl, she is not boring the raw crap out of us and I don't think she's pathetically whining at all. I'm not disabled. I'm able to walk, because some doctors did some very risky surgery on me. admin edit: this is way ou...

Re: JustTripn & eK venture into the watery wolfy wilderness!

Everybody who's been on this forum, knows that you're not in good health..... admin edit: this is way outta line. this thread is about a kayaking trip, NOT a forum for anyone to air their grievances about another member. Kotik, I'm sorry to hear about your disabilities as well - but lighten up on W...

Re: JustTripn & eK venture into the watery wolfy wilderness!

There are a lot of women here too. They're just all super busy. Don't worry, you're making up for it ... Well if I didn't have to lug a crappy wheelchair everywhere and my pain levels were somewhere near bearable, and I slept more than 4 hours a night, maybe I'd have a life. But I have to be gratef...

Well, I'm glad to hear that there's a lot of us here, (I thought maybe there weren't that many of us). Well, even if they're super busy, I'm glad they're around.

Re: JustTripn & eK venture into the watery wolfy wilderness!

:tears: Just glad you're back not enough women around here. I'm glad to see you're back too, ek :D And there aren't that many of us women around here, are there? I know that was one thing that kind of struck me as being a little different about this forum; in most trek related places I've hung out ...

Re: Question about interaction within the community

YES! I think it would make things a lot easier around here if people didn't let things fester. It's very hard to have a conversation and then almost a week later find out that you totally inadvertantly hurt somebody's feelings! Because it makes the poor person who inadvertantly did the hurting feel...

Re: Question about interaction within the community

Well it was a good example on how to disagree in a forum without hurling curses, terrible insults, or verbal bloodshed. So I think that we can all interact in a productive way. A little courtesy goes a long way. Yes, absolutely - I have nothing but the highest regard for you, Kotik and anyone else ...

Re: Question about interaction within the community

Okay, you just can't see where I'm coming from here, I guess. The reason why I stick to using fictional characters is because they are make believe creations and as such don't have rights that real people have. Thats the same reason why people write stories about Trip and T'Pol rather than stories a...

Re: Question about interaction within the community

It's not such grey an area. When you see Jolene Blalock strutting her stuff, while wearing pointy rubber-ears, she's still Jolene Blalock in an art performance with her role being named "T'Pol". She doesn't turn into a fictional character, she merely plays one. So the statement "I'm ...

Re: Question about interaction within the community

Natalie Portman sued a porn company that used her face when she played "Amidala" in the SW's prequal and won. So did Alyssa Milano, when people used her pictures from her role in a movie called Poison Ivy. These are legal cases on public record. All you have to do is type them into google...
