Re: Status and Support

Good luck with your novel! Waiting to hear must be stressful. I hope you hear soon!

Re: Status and Support

I try to do my share of reading and commenting but I find I often fall behind. But one good thing about my trying to leave a comment on every fan fiction story I read is that I can check to see if I have already read a story and up to what chapter, by checking to see if I already left a comment. It ...

Re: Randomness

Yes it is a sad commentary on American society today that this sort of drill is becoming common in schools. But after the shootings at the Connecticut school, and then close to home, the shootings at the Sikh Temple, where a deranged suicidal man was targeting an ethnic minority, there are good reas...

Re: Randomness

To sort of change the subject and kinda comment on the state of things today, I offer the following. This is how naive I am: the incident at my grand kids' school yesterday. While I was volunteering in a language class with 8th graders, the PA system came on and said the school was under lock down. ...

Re: Status and Support

LOL, I am trying to catch up too. I have four laundry baskets full of pears picked last weekend that have to be canned or given to a food pantry before they rot. Harvest was late but overwhelming. At least fan fiction does not rot if you don't get to it fast. :D

Re: Status and Support

Oh dear, I wasn't speaking of my own stories at all! I just noticed as I was leaving reviews for other peoples' stories that a few of our story posters never leave reviews for anyone on Triaxian Silk, even though they seem to get reviews themselves. I was not soliciting for reviews personally, at al...

Re: Status and Support

I just discovered this conversation; it seems I am kinda slow at things. I am so glad others at Triaxian Silk are venturing out into non-fan fic writing! I have only taken tiny tentative steps in that direction. Even retired (mostly) other things seem to get in he way like helping support my daugthe...

Re: My VOY reviews

I have not seen any Voyager episodes for a couple of years, but I do have the series on DVD. Your reviews are tempting me to go back and rewatch the episodes, especially the ones you rate highest. I miss the rating bums you used for reviewing Star Trek: Enterprise. Don't any of the Voyager character...

Re: Character Archetypes

I did NaNoWriMo a couple of years ago to see if I could actually produce that much text in a month. I did it! So I then knew I was capable of that volume, but it was nothing I ever used. I am better at shorter stories. I hope you not only finish, but produce something you are proud of! thumbsup:

Re: Character Archetypes

Thanks, Alelou! This is a great lead. And I also just thought of something, a book I have that I want to reread: The Hero with a Thousand Faces by Joseph Campbell who has written a lot on myth. I love this kind of research.

Re: Character Archetypes

I am fascinated by the Briggs-Meyers 16 personality types. I have not tried to fit fictional characters with these, but I am now thinking of comparing these Greek archetypes to them. Are there other systems of archetypes for fictional characters? This is a very interesting line of thought that Coffe...

Re: Randomness

Yes, I can see that we are falling behind! And I feel fortunate because much of what I and my husband have was accumulated before the slide, so we are not struggling. But my daughter and son-in-law are struggling. So I pick up the tab for the grand children's activities and often at the end of any m...

Re: Randomness

Yup, that is a dilemma. Time and money seem mutually exclusive. I am retired and glad the house and car and boat are paid for! But maintenance on same is expensive enough. And for emergencies, thoughts about that would be daunting if not for an IRA that I am not touching yet - unless a tornado takes...

Re: Crossover fics

Thanks for mentioning my cross-over fic, Asso. It is the first one I ever did and only because two Adventures of Sir Lancelot fans said they were also Star Trek: Enterprise fans. Otherwise, I would never have thought of even trying it. But it is cool to see that there are other cross-over stor...

Re: Randomness

I agree, if you can get by financially doing what you love to do...that is worth more than having a lot of money. I am happier now that I am retired and able to control how I spend my time, even though the budget is a lot tighter.
