Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

I said Theory has it that the SME matter I repeat the SAME matter cannot exist twice in the same place at the same time. That too violates physics as I understand it. Quite true. so, the Old T-Pol and the young T-Pol being made up of the identical matter could not be in the same room as in e2. Ot a...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

But wait, there's more! I forgot to respond to Silverbullet's statement about science dictating that T'Pol and old T'Pol must explode when they meet in the 'E2' episode. Unless you are postulating that old T'Pol is made of antimatter, how could that happen? You said something along the lines that tw...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

Just a few things. First of all, matter and antimatter as an energy source for Enterprise violates no science I am aware of. The amount of power you get is dependent on the amount of matter/antimatter you annihilate. We could do it today if we could overcome certain engineering issues, such as getti...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

Well, that sounds pretty definite. Based on that, I must agree that T'Pol exceeded her authority in a way no Vulcan would do, and the humans allowed her to, in a way no human would do. The scenario simply couldn't happen. One more strike against the show's writers.

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

T'Pol was not 'high' at Azti Prime in the sense she was drunk or inebriated. The Tri-D released her emotions, it did not impair her judgement. In my opinion, she was on solid ground when she refused to take the Enterprise in, with guns blazing, on a suicide mission to take out the Xindi weapon (whic...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

Yippee! I finally got to participate in a discussion before it turned old and cold. (Because I check so infrequently, I usually stumble across the good topics after everyone's lost interest. Like the one where everyone was trying to count all the guys on the site, and no one seemed to be sure of my ...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

I'm stuck here in Afghanistan, so I can't review 'Broken Bow' for clues or supporting evidence, but based on my recollection, this is my opinion on the way things went down: T'Pol was assigned to Enterprise to be the Vulcan babysitter/wiser-head/Oh-My-God-don't-even-THINK-of-doing-THAT person. I bel...

Re: Could T'Pol really be first officer?

It seems to me there is even a bigger issue with the Broken Bow scenario than whether T'Pol would or could or should assume command when Archer was incapacitated. (I tend to be ambivalent on the point, but if pushed, I'd say it's not terribly realistic that she would.) To me, the biggest reality gap...

Re: Romulan war canon?

Thanks for the links. It seems clear Vulcan was part of the alliance fighting the Romulans, but that goes counter to the needs of my story. Therefore, I will have the Vulcans initially sit out the conflict, then get drawn in later. That way, I can have my canon and eat it, too.

Romulan war canon?

I have started work on my next submission, which takes place during the Romulan War, and the info on the war I've been able to find online is sketchy and contradictory. (Sources can't even agree on when the war was fought. I'm going with 2156 to 2160.) In at least one other fanfic, I've seen a refer...

Comments on story "The Commissioning"

All, I'm new to this site, and I've barely scratched the surface of what's here, but what I've seen, I've enjoyed. I tried to post the following remarks in the comments section following my story, "The Commissioning", but I was a little long-winded and I exceeded the allowable word count. ...
