Re: 2009 Holiday Photos Thread!

Thanks for info, Dis ! I had seriously occupied myself only with chess where there is no visible sign of the rank. In the style I took for 20 years the only way you could tell a first degree black belt from a sixth without watching them fight was to guess by how worn out their belts looked. Mine sti...

Re: The Whine thread.

Today, I promised myself I would finish my syllabi so I could have the rest of the week off. Doing syllabi calendars is a royal pain in the you to what. I can only sympathize with you. I keep usually putting these deals off practically till the deadline and spoil my rest (weekends and et al)...

Are you also the black belt, Aikiweezie? I congratulate you! As far as I know it is the highest degree.

Re: Military Knowledge

So many wars :( and I did not know about many of them. The spelling part is weird because of English vowls. Spelling in Russian with the latin alphabet is just horrifying. If you know Russian spelling you can use some on-line transliteration service, for example: http://www.fotosav.ru/services/trans...

Re: Military Knowledge

I am not an expert in such terminology and will post my translation after the pertinent quotation. From the site of some kickboxing centre: http://www.kentavr-club.ru/combats/combats6.html Рукопашному бою в дореволюционной армии систематически не обучали - даже в "спецподразделениях" (туда...

Re: Military Knowledge

I have read few books about Alexander Mikhailovich Romanov. Under one of them the first Russian pilot school was opened only in 1910. There was no military aviation before it in Russian Empire.

Re: Season 5 youtube comic

New episode " Avians Over Avalon - Part One " was uploaded. I really enjoy this new episode and suppose that the vidder decided to pay attention to the book "Romulan War" because of the mention of Gannet's front reports. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ECA-Axr9PTk From Paulinem (t...

Re: Avatar *Here there be spoilers*

The curious thing about this character is that if you assume she spent 5 years in cold sleep to get to Pandora, even if she was a heavy smoker before she left she would have been off the stuff physically and long past physical withdrawal symptoms by the time she arrived. Starting again would have b...
