Re: Star Trek: Foundations (temp thread)

CX wrote:Any opinions on which version sounds better?

Actually, after seeing it, I like the 'one patch'-version better for looks (and the goldish lettering looked better imho) but I still think the separated version is logistically more sound. Not that that has ever stopped any military ^^

Re: Crew quarters question

From what I could gather from Elessar's link they are about ten by twenty feet, though none of them are square. Say about 250 sqft. (In metres, which they seem to be using by then, 3 m by 6 m and 22 sqm). This is just an estimate, though, because the quarters which are best aligned with the grid are...

Re: New Fanfic Up!

It's Buurman Day (or night, on this continent): A very short songfic: Don't You Walk So Fast And in the Library at P'Jem: Liberty Two-Four, Parts 4, 5 & 6. May be quiet for new fic until Monday. Alelou has grandchildren coming. Then again, grandchildren sometimes pass out before Grandma does, s...

Re: Star Trek: Foundations (temp thread)

I would separate them. It's both logistically more sound and I think it looks better. Yeah, but wouldn't it be more practical to have the two in the same patch? In time of war, for example, if you have to re-use the uniforms, because making new uniforms is expensive, it's better to have the name an...

Re: Star Trek: Foundations (temp thread)

I would separate them. It's both logistically more sound and I think it looks better. In the Dutch army (to provide you with an example) the name-tag is on the right breast, the department tag on the collars, but this is only when in the 'office' suit (I can't really find how it's done in the 'flowe...

Re: Allow Me to Introduce Maria...

:raspberry: What can I say to that but ... actually I don't know what I could say. :P Sorry? Maybe. I wasn't trying to start up a flame war, merely acknowledging that there are different cultural backgrounds and all that. And the fact that I find some people weird. But then again, I am weird as well...

... and they start stretching out the time between haircuts. Be happy there aren't more like me. It can take over six months between a haircut with me. :D I believe my last haircut ... hmm, I can't remember my last haircut. It was either past september or past may. One of those. Makes for int...

Liberty Two-Four (what do you think)

So ... as of now I have sent in part 5. Things should start to clear up. Since there are some people who've expressed difficulty with keeping up with the ... unrevealing ... way I wrote expecially the first four or so instalments I wanted to ask you to express your opinion. There's more room to do j...

Re: Randomness

Sorry, should a told you some more. It's a 200km (almost) ice skating tour on natural ice, being ridden in the Netherlands (province of Friesland or Fryslân) in which the skaters make a tour around eleven city's starting and ending in Leeuwarden (Ljouwert). The name, Elfstedentocht, literally means ...

You want to see Archer being obnoxious, start reading the latest chapter of Leiterian Chronicles over at fanfic.net. (Or hopefully here, soon.) Wait, what, they brought out a new episode?! Yes! Whoohoooo! When'll it be on here? Now I know why everything else has taken a backseat ... it must be anot...

Re: Coding for fics

Eventually ... the system has yet to be implemented. Though I don't know if it draws italic, bold and underlined directly from the word document, you might still need to put in such tags. But at the very least the whole process of making a .html file from your .doc file would be automated which woul...

I'm sorry, but that just doesn't count.   I think we got seven or eight. Not so bad. Our first winter here our first storm was 19 inches ... I think this was in November ... and the snow blower wouldn't start. Then I think we got 22 inches on Christmas day. And so on and so on. It t...

And not to sound too cranky, but if some of you are so anti-gun, could you please refrain from posting in threads like this and giving the rest of us grief? It's just ever so slightly trolling and it gets under my skin something fierce. I know they're just teasing me because I'm the weird liberal g...

Re: The Whine thread.

{Long rant about Jungle Boy} Actually, no. You were not too harsh on him. I don't know the exact specifications of the situation but there's two things you gotta keep in mind: a) You have your own life and own self to take care of - that takes precedence b) You need to set limits. That is really im...
